The first newspaper review of last night's Hershey show is in, and Bucky and Kellie both get a very hearty nod from Colin McEvoy of the Patriot-News:
Their slack was picked up by the tour's two country stars, Bucky Covington and Kellie Pickler. Although they placed eighth and sixth, respectively, Kellie brought the room alive with a rendition of Melissa Etheridge's "I'm the Only One" and Bucky showed off an outstanding voice and charisma with Stevie Wonder's "Superstition."
.........................
The night ended with an ensemble performance of Queen's "We Are the Champions." Indeed, some of them were that last night -- Hicks, Daughtry and Covington in particular.
The fan recaps are trickling in, too; at MJ's, one witty commenter gives a funny faux-review and some others note that the recaps are getting (unavoidably, I guess) "predictable". Another just back from the show mentions that Bucky threw his hat out to the crowd up front. I predict some major scrambles at future concerts if that becomes a habit...
Over at the official boards, Bucky's fans are pretty much in agreement that yesterday's Albany newspaper review was fairly complimentary indeed, in a roundabout sort of way. (As you might have guessed, there's a healthy Bucky Covington/Lynryd Skynyrd fan overlap.) There's also a sweet recap from an Elliott Yamin fan--another fan group overlap!--she mentions that the Bucky Slide was in evidence during the Albany show, and recounts her fun waiting-by-the-buses-for-the-Idols experience.
And here's a cute late Albany review in the Tour forum--looks like Bucky's got a new supporter:
Next Bucky came out rockin' to "Superstition". Then he sang 2 other country songs which i can't recall the names to. I was very surprised by Bucky too. He was awesome! I can call myself a Bucky fan after last night!
More fan reviews will surely be posted at the Fox boards tour forum by the time you read this; FoRT and TWoP are a bit quieter these days, but the occasional bit of concert-related snark turns up in those spots as well. (You're probably more likely to find information in the TWoP Performers threads than in the relatively dormant tour thread.)
Tonight's show at the Continental Arena in East Rutherford is guaranteed to have a special, sweet spark--word at the Fox boards is that the two lovely Mrs. Covingtons (Bucky's wife Crystal and his "Special Mother" Tracey) will be in attendance. If you'd like to make an appearance too, there may be some seats released at Ticketmaster--good luck, and have a fantastic time.
See you soon!
(And if I may be permitted a bit of shamelessly fannish glee, my first Idol concert is less than a week away. Can't wait!)
I'm baaaaack! ;-)
ReplyDeleteHey, sweetie. You know, I'm kind of sorry now that I didn't try to get my sked changed so I could go with you to this concert, if only to se the look on your face. Heh. :-D And after catching up on everything I think you might get your wish of him having hits and touring every summer for the rest of your life. Dude is going places. He's good. Ping me, I'll be home tonight. ~D
hey thanks for all the good stuff !! Wow sounds like things are in full swing :-) Got enought stuff to look at now for quite sometime.. It's Great !!!!!
ReplyDeleteHave a good evening........
Hey, Dina--you know I wish you could be at the show, too! (Maybe we can try to get to a PA show near the end of the tour? It's nutty to be this happy for people you don't even know, but I can't help but like the Covingtons--they seem like good folks who'll make the best of this incredible career jump. And yeah, he is good, isn't he? You and I will hit a Bucky Covington show together--this tour or later, after he goes platinum. :)
ReplyDeleteAnd hi, Vickie--it's good to see you! You know, I am trying to see if I can stay an extra day in Columbus after the Idols concert, since I found out Bo will be performing in town the next night. Hope I can see him live--what little I've caught of him, I've loved.
Thanks for the kind words--take care, and have a fantastic weekend!
