Tour and ticket news, 5/3

Just a little updated info on the Pop-Tarts Presents American Idols Live extravaganza...

Looks like the Kellogg's presale password is going to be first on the list, if the info at Ticketmaster is any indication. The radio station and venue presales may be a day later than the Kellogg one in some markets. Here's what the sidebar for the Columbus, OH listing says:

KELLOGGS PRESALE:

Start:Wed, 05/17/06 10:00 AM EDT
End:Fri, 05/19/06 10:00 PM EDT

AEG/INSIDER/RADIO:

Start:Fri, 05/19/06 10:00 AM EDT
End:Fri, 05/19/06 10:00 PM EDT

(Be sure to check the specific listing for the arenas you're planning to go to at Ticketmaster, as details may vary.)

So far, there's no word on what the Pop-Tarts/Kellogg password will be; in past years, it's been virally marketed via chat rooms, message boards and AIM about five days before the actual presale. (Note to any lurking Kellogg's interns...the Buckymania blog is a wonderful way to spread the news...really, it is! Feel free to pop-tart yourselves into our comments section any time with whatever passwords y'all wanna share. Thank you.)

While keeping an ear out for presale passwords (they'll be posted here the minute we hear anything), it's always a good idea to have a plan B. And as for alternative ways of snagging a seat as close to Bucky as possible, eBay gives an admittedly biased view of their ticket-buying and selling services, and there's an online-tickets-for-dummies (that'd be moi) guide at eHow with a suspicious number of links to ticket brokers StubHub. (If you're a big enough spender for good seats at StubHub, chances are you're way beyond needing a presale password.)

Just for the record, I've helped a friend sell concert tickets at face value on eBay, with no drama whatsoever (my friend met the nice buyer at the venue and the transaction went off without a hitch), and the best seats I've ever had--front row!--were purchased at Ticketmaster the day before the show, when some promo holds must have been released to the general public. There's a lot of determination and luck involved in getting good seats for an Idol show...and I'll help out any way I can. I'll be setting up a new sidebar segment specifically for tour links, so check back often...

More later today!

  2. Anytime, now! The general information I've been able to gather indicates it should...er, pop up a week or so before the presales start. I don't know if the tickets will be offered through PopTarts.com this year, though. Keep checking, and I will too.
