Something to talk about...

A little bit of news came through the grapevine while I was away trying to earn some extra-ticket cash:

The tracklisting for the Idol Season Five CD has been posted at Idolforums; as was confirmed before, Bucky's track will be "Superstition". (Even though that performance was as fun as it could be, some of the fans would have preferred something a little more in line with Bucky's country-rock roots...but the prospect of a real-life, full length studio track from Bucky is enough to make us smile, nonetheless.)

And while we're waiting for the Idols CD--and for Bucky's solo debut--a few of us are busy finding fun screensavers and such, but be careful out there. Bucky-themed screensavers at some of the non-official sites are often bugged with spyware, according to this article at E!Online. (Taylor Hicks-themed screensavers are the most dangerous, they report; Melissa McGhee fans can download with confidence.) If this article came a little too late and you're looking for a way to clean spyware off your system, Spybot Search and Destroy is the best cleaner ever--and it's both safe and free.

If you didn't catch Bucky's school visit on the front page of the Richmond County Daily Journal earlier today, here ya go. Enjoy!

As far as tour news goes, there are a lot of get-together threads popping up amongst Bucky's fans--here's one at the official boards, one at Idolforums, and...what's this...a bit of "wait and see" sentiment expressed on Bucky's thread at TWoP? Those of us who were around for the second season might find the "meh" mumblings about the tour vaguely familiar; fans of that season's runner-up/co-winner had mixed feelings about enriching the Idol folks' coffers after the show done their man wrong, and some understandably wanted to hold out for a solo tour. That lasted right up until a bootleg piece of video hit the internet late one night after the first concert and caused a mad scramble for Ticketmaster, nationwide. Here's hoping Bucky gives us a "what is that move?"-style moment this year--and someone's got a way to record it.

Back soon with yet more ticket strategies--gotta get some Bucky supporters in the good seats! Stay tuned...

  2. Hi there! I do too, actually--he is a great live performer, and I've seen him quite a few times. Bucky's musical style is completely different, of course--I wasn't trying to compare the two singers--but I think Bucky will generate some real "tour buzz" once the show gets on the road. And of course, I'm ready for Bucky's first solo tour, too!

Another Clay and Bucky fan! I remember how exciting that time was and the thrill of seeing the first video of Clay in concert in Minnesota. I too hope Bucky surprises us in concert also and someone gets video! Bucky seemed the most comfortable he had ever been onstage during "Fat-Bottomed Girls" and I hope he owns the stage in concert. I heard Bo owned the stage during the AI4 tour. Since there is no obvious frontrunner this year, it's up for grabs as to who makes the most magic during the AI5 tour.

  4. Hi Grace! You know, all these years later, the thought of that Minnesota concert video still makes me smile. "Invisible"-style pop really isn't my usual musical thing, but Clay's performance was just electrifying--he sounded incredible and looked so confident and so happy to be on a concert stage--and that fan's excitement was so infectious. ("OMGOMGOMG!") Honestly, a team of suits with 50 years of combined time in the promo biz couldn't have put together a better ad for Clay In Concert. There was a whole new side of him that we didn't see on the AI show, and boy, did that video ever get the news out fast...

You make a good point about the "magical performer" spot being up for grabs this tour--Bucky's "Fat Bottomed Girls" performance was definitely a sign of good things to come in concert. I truly believe he is going to shine on this tour; all the downsides (judges, odd themes, pressure of competition) will be gone, and all his good points (bar band experience, engaging personality, distinctive voice, true desire to entertain a crowd) will be up front.

Can't wait to see what the summer holds...and I hope someone gets some video, too.
