(Our web host, Blogger.com, is having some technical difficulties. Hang in there!)
Another serene day so far, but there's a little news out there:
This MTV News article just came in over the wire; Bo Bice gets some real props for "clearing the way for out-of-the-box contestants like Taylor Hicks and Bucky Covington." It's a fun-to-read nod to the increased rock (as opposed to pop) presence on Idol, and Bo, Constantine Maroulis, Chris Daughtry and Jon Peter Lewis are all quoted. Here's Bucky's word on Bo:
"Bo opened up a lot of doors for a lot of people," added Bucky Covington, an eliminated rocker finalist. "I think he did the show a lot of good by coming on. He did a heck of a job, and so far with his career he's doing a fine job ... and I thank him very much for it."
While MTV is congratulating Idol on its forays into rock, the rumor on the boards (via TWoP; scroll down) is that the coronation song this year will be "Make It Real", a ballad written by Nick Lachey, Tamyra Gray, and two veteran songwriters, one of whom co-wrote Color Me Badd's "I Wanna Sex You Up". (Um, rock on?) This giggle-inducing Idolforums thread from a few days ago looks a bit closer to reality these days. Gotta love those lyrics...
(Anyone else relieved that the beautiful "Best I Ever Had" is the ballad Bucky's time on Idol will be remembered by? Me, too.)
While you're at IDF, check out a dazzling new wallpaper (that's a whole lot of Bucky, there!), and a couple of cute old wire-service photos of Bucky and Kellie Pickler out grabbing a cup of coffee.
More news later--have a great Monday!
