A snarky but funny bit from the decidedly underwhelmed concert reviewer for the Fort Worth Star-Telegram starts things off this Friday morning:
Taylor Hicks and Katharine McPhee got the applause to match their higher-ranking status, but each performer had fans. One guy behind me moaned "Bucky-yyy" every time an act left the stage, long after shaggy young Bucky Covington finished his covers of Stevie Wonder's Superstition and Dobie Gray's Drift Away.
(Who was that guy? Just for the record, the writer enjoyed Kellie and Bucky's duet...)
The recaps at the Fox boards are bound to be a bit more favorable...right now, unfortunately, they're also invisible, but there should be some Grand Prairie/Dallas memories posted as the day goes on. (Meanwhile, it's fun to check out the newest additions to the "favorite concert performance" thread--looks like Bucky's picked up some new fans in the last set of shows.)
And as the tour winds down and the future unfolds, a few encouraging hints about Bucky's musical plans are popping up at the Fox boards, as well. That thread about Bucky's possible upcoming single we linked to a day or so ago now contains several references to posts by Bucky's generous "Special Mother", who notes that he plans to rest a bit after this long, long tour. Then, it seems, he's got some business in Nashville. (Bet you're thinking what I'm thinking--keep that space in your CD rack open, y'all...)
Finally, new photos from the Idol tour are becoming harder and harder to find on the boards, but there are some fun shots posted deep within Flickr, if you're curious. Here's Bucky onstage in Nashville (I think), a nice overhead photo of all four singers taken during "Patience" in Indianapolis, Bucky dancing up a storm in Portland, a cute duet shot from the same show (never mind the caption; love that smile!) and an end-of-the-headbanging snap.
I'm almost positive I've already linked to Honeygirl's beautiful Kentucky gallery, these dashing post-finale photos (still diggin' that tuxedo) and these great shots of Bucky signing autographs in Birmingham. (The Birmingham set starts here--keep going, there are quite a few!) All deserve a second look--it's good to know the tour has been captured so well, by so many talented people.
And as Bucky walks into yet another venue to get ready to rock the Pop-Tarts masses, we'll close for now--but come on back for a preview of tonight's second Dallas concert.
See you soon!
