Bucky Covington's wild weekend: see him live!

Just because we flat-out like it (and because this song sounds like a hot hit single--ahem) here's that stunning video of Bucky Covington and his stellar band performing the soulful and sexy "Hold a Woman" live at last year's aptly named Fire Jam in Hillsboro, KS. A big crowd is expected for the Friday night party at Six Strings (525 North Center Street in Bloomington, IL) this evening; B104 is your sponsor station, Bucky Covington and his band are the headliners, and a good time is guaranteed. Tickets are $15 at the door, and there's an opening act (Scott Marek & Derick Shumacher) and a closing act (Tony Phillips), too. It'll be a night chock full of music--be there!

If you had a chance to check out the excellent interview with Bucky at Pantagraph.com, you're up to speed on the latest news about the release date of Bucky's much-anticipated second album, I'm Alright. The down side--the release date is in limbo yet again. (A direct quote from Bucky: "Without a doubt, if I said it's not frustrating, that would be a complete lie.") The bright side--as Bucky told the interviewer, is that the delays allow for some fine-tuning. (With his first album, Bucky Covington, an indisputable hit, and with three Top Ten singles on the radio, expectations are high--but we have a feeling this sophomore effort will be hotter than hot...)

In the meantime (sigh!) the best thing we, as Bucky's dedicated listeners, can do is to keep that buzz going--on radio, online and by word of mouth. Bucky's blessed with an extraordinarily cool--and connected--group of fans, listeners and supporters, and whether we're requesting his past hits at our local country radio stations (super-important, y'all), happily hitting his live shows, or sharing our support for our favorite new country singer via word of mouth (or those handy word-of-mouth extensions Facebook and Twitter), it all matters. Buzz is what keeps a performer in the public eye between singles, between albums, between labels. Bucky and his band sure have been doing their part to keep the momentum going with their tireless touring, making new fans and friends coast to coast. The music business is crazy right now, but ever since the days of wandering troubadours, a passionate audience has been essential. And a passionate audience, Bucky's got--for sure!
