New concert alert: Bucky Covington live at RJ's Bullshooter's Saloon 9/3, kind words from Hazel Smith, Ottawa photos, and a few Tuesday musings...

Had a request come in for this classic concert photo--happy to oblige! Bucky Covington on stage in Rockingham last fall; photo by our very talented friend Judy Lang. (Click the image to see Bucky's tour schedule at his official site.)

Via Y106.5's official Twitter and via the fine folks at Buckytown USA: "Bucky Covington LIVE at RJ's Bullshooter's Saloon Friday Sept. 3rd! Tickets just $15.00! If you missed him at Hodag DO NOT miss this show!" RJ's is located at 7802 Meadow Rock Dr. in Weston, WI; we'll post more info about ticketing and such as soon as it's available, and be sure to bookmark Y106.5's website for further updates. (And while we're talking tour news, remember to hit Buckytown USA every day--they're always up on the latest, including a new show at the Eastern Michigan Fair on Wednesday...)

Meanwhile, how about a fun blast-from-the-past look at Bucky's Hodag experience? The station has a few photos in their Hodag Festival galleries, and this video of Y106.5's morning host AJ meeting Bucky and Rocky Covington backstage is too fun for words.

A review from Monday's Jackson County Fair show is up now at MLive.com; Stacy Swann of the Jackson Citizen Patriot had a lot to say about that great Bucky Covington/Rodney Atkins bill.

Bucky Covington and Ducky Medlock rocked the crowd in Washington last summer; they'll be back in the Pacific Northwest again on October 2nd for the Washington State Fair in Yakima. Thanks to the very kind Lacypony for the photo.

On the recording/new singles front, there's suspense and mystery as usual--what's new?--but the one constant is the loyalty and affection Bucky's fans and friends (including friends in high places) have shown him since the very beginning. CMT's Hazel Smith mentioned him in her Hot Dish column on Monday, during her tribute to Lyric Street: "I haven't heard if former Lyric Street artist Bucky Covington has found a record label. If not, I suggest somebody raise their hand to sign Bucky. He's a star!" Sounds a bit like her very first podcast mention of Bucky back in his American Idol days, doesn't it? (We wrote about Ms. Smith's early praise for Bucky back in 2006...)

That's the beauty of country music fans in general and Bucky Covington's fans in particular--we're absolutely loyal, and when we like you, you stay liked! Between the ups and downs of Idol, the sweet surprise of the GAC tour, the long wait before the label announcement, the album release at #1 and three Top Ten singles, long, hot summer tours, Lyric Street's demise and more--we've been through a lot, and "still here we are".

If I can get personal for a moment--and speaking only for myself, y'all--at the top of my wish list for us as Bucky's supporters going forward is much more information from the powers that be. We love news! As the last four years have gone by, so much has changed in both the record business and the radio industry, and even the fan blogging format has become a little old-school now that performers and/or their promo teams give authorized news straight from the source via Twitter. (Here's Bucky's-please follow him...)

From the emails we've been getting here at Buckymania, Bucky's fans would be overjoyed with some official, solid, final, current word on his label status, on if, when and what the next single will be, and if and how the latest Lyric Street news may have affected that planned September release of I'm Alright. Hey, we want to know because we care about our favorite country singer and are eager to promote him every way we can--and because in this day and age, direct artist/artist's team-to-fan and fan-to-fan communications have become second only to traditional press releases to major media markets. We love creating buzz when we have hot news to work with...here's hoping there'll be plenty of hot news to share in the days ahead!

As we were putting together this post, we were zapped this link to some great concert photos from Bucky and his band's Capital Hoedown performance in Ottawa. Thanks to Daytime Ottawa for posting them, and thanks to BrosCovington and SAPope at Twitter for passing 'em along!
