Photo by Wendy Newcomer, GACTV.com.Sad news from Billboard and Music Row; it looks as though Lyric Street Records, Bucky Covington's label, will soon be closing its doors. No word yet on what's in store for Bucky and his labelmates Sarah Buxton, Tyler Dickerson, Love & Theft, Kevin Fowler, The Parks and Rascal Flatts, but we'll pass along any updates that come down the wire. Stay tuned...
Updated with a confirmation from Disney, via Music Row.
(Edited to add a bit more info from the Wall Street Journal: "Disney said it will phase out Lyric Street operations while keeping a core promotions team to market and promote the label's current records." Bucky's current single, "A Father's Love (The Only Way He Knew How)", has been picking up plenty of steam on the Billboard charts, moving up an impressive nine spots this week. The other "core promotions team" --Bucky's loyal fans--are still very much on the job, too! Click here to find your local country station, and help keep the request lines hot. No matter what's happening on the business side of Music Row, a hot radio hit is always a good thing. More soon--Winnie)
