Very Quick Wednesday news: Bucky Covington's New York groove, chart check and more...

Bucky Covington rocked the crowd in Merced, California a little while back; many thanks to our talented friend Minnie for this terrific concert shot.

Here's a very quick review of what's happening today:

Bucky Covington and his excellent band take the stage tonight at the Chemung County Fair in Horseheads, New York; the show begins at 8:00 pm, and box office hours today are 10 am to 6 pm. 99.5 WOKN are your sponsors--if you're in the listening area, tune in for surprises. (The guys have an insanely jam-packed August ahead; check out Bucky's MySpace calendar, Buckytown USA's concert sidebar and Bucky Covington's official tour page to find out when they'll rock your town...)

You'll find Bucky's single, "I Want My Life Back", at #35 on the Mediabase published charts, sporting a somewhat bigger bullet today--momentum's always a good thing! Keep it going with a request to your local country DJ, and write WKML's Larry K at country@wkml.com to give Bucky a boost on today's "Top 5 at 6". (Be sure to check your favorite country station's website for links to countdown and "Top X at X" voting online, too--sometimes the survey's right on the front page, sometimes it's hidden in a DJ's bio section, but wherever it is, it's a fun way of letting them know which songs you want to hear.)

Bucky Covington and Rocky Covington harmonize on stage at the Alameda County Fair in California; another great photo by Minnie. Thanks again!

We have until the 10th to tell GAC that we're missing Bucky's "A Different World" on their Top 20 My First Time Countdown ballot. Write them at gacnews@gactv.com to put in a good word for Bucky's past and future music videos.

Finally, a late night Tuesday Twitter revelation, straight from the keyboard of Paula Abdul: "With sadness in my heart, I’ve decided not to return to #IDOL. I’ll miss nurturing all the new talent, but most of all I’ll miss being a part of a show that I helped from day1 become an international phenomenon." We'll miss Paula, too--she didn't strike me as being the biggest country fan, exactly, but she always seemed to have a soft spot and an encouraging word for Bucky during his time on the show. We wish her all the best.

Gotta run to a meeting--more very soon. Have a wonderful Wednesday!--Winnie
