Bucky Covington smiles from the stage during yesterday's KHEY New Country Showcase in El Paso; photo by the very kind Buckymouse. Thanks so much for the great shot! Here's a quick look at Monday's news:
Bucky Covington's next show on Thursday, June 18th is going to be a true Southern delight: the free and very popular KIX on Beale concert series is sponsored by WGKX/KIX 106, and while there's no official meet and greet listed, you just might have a chance to say hello to Bucky later on that day. From the blog of sponsor Chuck Hutton Chevrolet:
KIX 106 & "Memphis" Mark Billingsley will broadcast live from inside Handy Park before each Thursday night concert from 3 - 7 pm featuring live interviews with that night’s artist.
Following each concert the artist will join the fans at the After Party at Coyote Ugly for an autograph signing session. Each fan will have an opportunity to personally meet their favorite artists up close and personal!
The 2009 “KIX ON BEALE” FREE concert series is brought to you by Chuck Hutton Chevrolet, Sam’s Town Casino, Vitamin Water, Miller Beer, Digger O’Dell’s, Coyote Ugly, Performa Entertainment and your station for Today’s Best Country for over 25 years... KIX 106!
No word yet on specifics about Bucky's show, but we'll stay tuned. Hope you can be there for what promises to be an exciting night in Memphis!
Meanwhile, here's a little tidbit about yesterday's KHEY New Country Showcase at Wet and Wild in El Paso; our very kind friend Buckymouse was there for the fun, and it sounds like Bucky, Jeff Cease and Ducky Medlock gave the crowd a stellar acoustic show. Whether it's an acoustic set or a full-band blast, you don't want to miss Bucky and his band this summer--bookmarking the sidebar at Buckytown USA and Bucky Covington's official tour page is highly recommended...
Bucky's on your radio, too--now more than ever. As we mentioned in the previous post, "I Want My Life Back" [hear Bucky Covington's new single at his MySpace] rose a notch to #34 on the Mediabase published charts and #33 on the all-station charts overnight. We've got some sweet momentum to build upon, and with a superstar set to jump ahead of all in his path, now's the time to call and request! Your local country station's lunchtime request hours, drivetime shows and "Top X at X" countdowns could use a little Bucky Covington goodness, and Larry K would love to hear from you, too. Write him at country@wkml.com and request "I Want My Life Back" for WKML's "Top 5 at 6", then hop into the stream and see if Bucky's Fayettteville streak continues.
Bucky Covington chats with GAC's Suzanne Alexander at the Riverfront Daytime Stage in Nashville, Tenn. on June 12, 2009. Photo by GAC staff.Finally--you guesed it--more CMA Fest memories! Suzanne Alexander's interviews with Bucky have always been a joy to watch, and she stopped to pose with him for this cute shot posted at GAC's Fest galleries. (Hop on over to Buckytown USA for links to even more Fan Club party/CMA Fest goodness in photo and video form...)
We'll close with a link to Steve Cook's excellent Shiny Bass Journal, freshly updated for your pleasure. Enjoy! See you later today--Winnie
