Happydays took this great shot of Bucky Covington on stage in Estero, FL --click here to see more of her fun concert and meet-and-greet images. Thanks again, Happydays!
Bucky Covington's brand new single,"I'll Walk" begins the week by flirting with Top 50 status--it's now #56 on the Mediabase weighted chart and #54 on the Top 500, with two bright red bullets. Keep listening for it on your local station, and feel free to call them up and let them know you're enjoying it. (If you haven't heard it yet, tune in for those song challenge segments and be prepared to give Bucky's new tune a boost.) It's Good to Be Us has some excellent request tips based on Midask9's fun personal experience. (Yes, subtle charm and flirting skills are good to have, no matter what you're up to...)

Bucky and his band's killer on-stage charms are evident on the road, where he's been incredibly busy--there's so much Stagecoach coverage that we'll just point you to Google News and let them dazzle you. (The big, somewhat amusing question for Bucky Covington fans is, of course, how doing "Fortunate Son" at the same festival where the legendary--and awesome--John Fogerty played can be considered a respectful tribute and a triumph by one newspaper reviewer at Country Thunder one weekend, and tagged a "faux pas" by another newspaper reviewer at Stagecoach the next. Those of us who actually heard the Arizona concert through the magic of technology are gonna have to go with the Country Thunder review...just sayin'. It rocked!)
You'll be able to hear Bucky rock it for yourself (sans a Fogerty performance the day before, alas) on May 9th, when 94.9 The Bull is sponsoring a Free for All concert at the Wild West Bar and Grill in Canton, Georgia. (As we've stressed many a time, there's really nothing like these intimate venues for an amazing live music experience--be there if you can.) On the 10th, Bucky joins Kellie Pickler, Sara Evans and Blake Shelton for the WZZK Throwdown concert in downtown Birmingham; tickets are on sale now at Ticketmaster. The 22nd finds Bucky reunited with good friend Kellie Pickler for the WOKK Birthday Bash at the Lauderdale County Agri-Center in Meridian, MS. (This is one of those "win your ticket" events, so tune in and keep listening to 97 OKK for your chance to be there...)
I got a note saying "I heard you love 'Bible and the Belt', so could you post that one next?" I do, and my pleasure--here's FLCathy's fantastic video of Bucky and his band rockin' it out, from their recent Myrtle Beach show. Thanks for writing!
And on May 27th, Bucky performs on the Grand Ole Opry at the Opry House in Nashville; call 1-800-SEE-OPRY or click here for tickets. And remember, there's a discount for this one--use coupon code "WEBFAN" or head over here to print a coupon to present to any Grand Ole Opry box office to receive $3.00 off of your ticket purchase. (Sawyer Brown and Bucky's labelmate Phil Stacey are also on the bill that night--sounds like a wonderful evening of music!) You'll definitely want to make Bucky Covington part of your summer concert schedule--follow his through this handy animated Gruvr tour map, and bookmark the Tour page at his official site for all the latest...
Last but absolutely not least, we'll repeat these photo links from late last night-- Getty Images and Wire Image were there for the Stagecoach show, and their photographers captured Bucky and his band beautifully. Enjoy! Back with more later today--Winnie
Thank you so much for this blog! I find out a lot about Phil through his label mate, Bucky,on this blog. Phil spoke highly of him in a recent interview he did in New York. Too bad I live in Florida, otherwise I would try and make it to the Opry. Thanks again for the info!
ReplyDeleteWinnie,
ReplyDeleteIn the most recent issue of CW (Dolly on front) there is a "Kings in Waiting" list, Bucky ranks 3rd, I think Sierra said page 51 or something along those lines. The CW online didnt have it listed.
Hi there! CFPhilFan, thank you for stopping by and my pleasure--I hope you're able to make it to the Opry to see Phil the next time he's there. It really is a very special experience!
ReplyDeleteAnd Bren, thanks--good to see you! Good to know who's on the cover of that issue--things are moving so fast that the old post about that issue of CW already scrolled off the front page, so your reminder is right on time. I'll add your reminder to the evening post, which'll be happening in a few moments, I hope... :)
