(Photo by Aaron Crisler/Music City Update.com-- thanks again, Mr. Crisler!)It's finally here! News of Bucky Covington's first major country music award nomination rocked our world (in a very good way) a few weeks ago, and tonight, we'll know if Bucky's the winner of the USA Weekend Breakthrough Video of the Year belt-buckle trophy at the 2008 CMT Music Awards. Here's a quick review of today's exciting happenings...
The official CMT Music Awards section at CMT.com is the place to be today--the mini-site is filled with facts, links to past and current awards info and more. Red-carpet arrivals will be aired live on CMT and streamed live on CMT.com, beginning at 7 p.m. ET. And yes, the red-carpet show has its very own, very quiet message board at CMT. We're hoping hosts Katie Cook and Lance Smith get a chance to talk to Bucky as he strolls into the Curb Center...
The CMT Music Awards online photo gallery will be updated with new goodies tonight and tomorrow, and Wire Image and Getty Pictures will be there (and quickly updating) as well--bookmark all three sites and check back often.
This year, CMT's also live-blogging the show! Click the image to read comedian Shane Caldwell's commentary on the show as it happens, starting at 7 p.m. ET and ending when the show ends. (Naturally, we'll be doing some blogging here, too...)And if you'd like a little sartorial souvenir, they've got you covered in the shop--there's a retro styled 2008 CMT Music Awards T-shirt available there. Have fun, and we'll see you right here later tonight!
Upcoming shows: Bucky joins Luke Bryan and headliner Dierks Bentley for the Throttle Wide Open show at Bearcat Arena in Maryville MO on April 16th, then hits the Country Thunder festival in Florence, AZ on the 19th. (KIIM in Tuscon might have more on that one as the days go by--if you're local, keep it tuned right there!) And Buckyflowers sent along a nice reminder that I forgot to post under my Ny-Quil induced haze yesterday--tickets for the WZZK Throwdown concert in downtown Birmingham on Saturday, May 10 are on sale now at Ticketmaster. Bucky Covington, Kellie Pickler, Sara Evans and Blake Shelton will be the stars, and the WZZK mailing list is a must-join. Hope you'll be there!
Rocky Covington and Bucky Covington on stage at the Wildhorse Saloon in Nashville; photo by the very kind Buckaholic. Click the image to see more of her beautiful concert shots. Thanks and happy birthday, Buckaholic! On the tube and around the net: The Covington Times celebrates tonights awards with one of our favorite photos from last year's CMT red carpet, two great concert images by AmaTexMom, and an excellent suggestion for GAC countdown votes. (Sounds smart to us!) . Midask9's concert memories are a must-read at It's Good to Be Us today, and there's a link to her fresh new Photobucket there, too. Be sure to pop into Country's Chatter today for a fun story (and beautiful photos!) on Bucky's fellow Idol graduate and new Nashville resident Diana DeGarmo.
Vote for Bucky: Country Weekly's poll ends tonight at midnight, and we always love seeing his name and face in the magazine, especially when the poll involves a vote of confidence in his future! The Duke's New Music Playoffs features "It's Good to Be Us" again this week--scroll down and have your say.
And of course, we love Bucky's staying power on the video countdown charts! "It's Good to Be Us" is always looking for a little love at GAC's Top 20 Country Countdown and at CMT's Top 20 Countdown.Have a magnificent Monday!
Bucky will be presenting tonight too, if this story is correct. This isn't a joke, right?

Thanks, Anon! CMT's last press release about presenters was issued about the middle of last week, and I imagine there could have been some changes made since then. Hope he is indeed a presenter and a winner tonight!
ReplyDeleteNo problem. I actually came across it after looking up something on Diana DeGarmo and thought it was nice for you to mention Country Chatter's story on her as well. Hopefully there is some confirmation and it turns out to be true. Good luck to Bucky tonight as well.
