Bucky Covington rocks some style on stage at Uncle Ron's in Lincoln, Nebraska, 11/28; photo by our talented friend Janie, who shares more great concert shots in her Photobucket gallery. Thanks again, Janie!A short but sweet reminder tonight--we're down to the wire, but we're excited beyond words! Needless to say, if you haven't bugged, nagged, seduced, coerced or persuaded everyone you know into registering at CMT and voting for Bucky, then by all means, drop what you're doing and give them all a nudge. (We'll be here.) But if you're all set and basking in the glow of knowing you've done everything you can to get that CMT Music Award belt-buckle trophy into Bucky Covington's hands, it's time to relax--and if you're going to the Awards (lucky you!), it's time to get that glow-power turned up to "stun".
CMT and Garnier are eager to help you out. (Nope, this isn't a paid ad--I found it at the CMT Music Awards site. Being nosy has its rewards!) They'll be co-sponsoring several "style bars" and two special "Rock Your Style" lounges in and around Music City, and from the sound of it, you won't have to get dressed up to get some red-carpet-worthy style tips--and free samples--before the big night in Nashville. The events run from April 9th through the 13th; click here for dates, times and locations.
We all know that Bucky will rock the red-carpet in style--Getty Images' JAMD gallery has plenty of photos of Bucky at his "eventful" best.
Finally, a quick, slightly off-topic note about our beloved "It's Good to Be Us"--the charts haven't been fun to look at the last couple of days (to say the least) but the joy of supporting Bucky on the radio is always there, no matter which way the numbers are trending. It's important for local stations to know that listeners in their area are enjoying Bucky Covington's current single, whether there's a bullet beside it or not. The more support he's got for each current single, the easier it is for the next one to be added to the playlist--so our calls, emails and votes are always vital. (Who knows--"It's Good to Be Us" might be an awards contender down the line. Keep the faith!)
Hosted by Billy Ray Cyrus and Miley Cyrus, the 2008 CMT MUSIC AWARDS air live from Nashville’s Curb Event Center at Belmont University on Monday, April 14 at 8:00 p.m. ET/PT* on CMT and CMT.com. The 2008 CMT MUSIC AWARDS continues to be the genre’s only fan-voted awards. Fans can vote online at CMT.com through Friday, April 11 to determine the night’s winners.
Hey, did anyone ever mention that Bucky was seen making a couple of blurb comments about Carrie Underwood's Before He Cheats video on the CMT Top 100 videos that was playing over the weekend? It was a long and tedious show done in typical CMT fashion - snippets of videos accompanied by a bunch of various people making snide comments. Some people showed up more than others making comments, and just when it's so low in the countdown you give up hope of ever seeing Bucky - our boy shows up on Carrie's video. It was brief, but it's always fun to see Bucky's clever remarks.
ReplyDelete"I'll Walk" announced as next single. IBTBU will be dying on the air soon to make room for the new song.
ReplyDeleteIGTBU is done, IMO. And that's fine with me. It's a 30+ week old song and it's done really well. A top 11 hit is nothing to sneeze at. For reference, Big and Rich's "Save a Horse" peaked in the same position. I don't think anyone would call that a failure just because it didn't reach Top 10.
ReplyDeleteI just hope Lyric gets on the ball and starts pushing I'll Walk right away. Just in time for prom season.
"I just hope Lyric gets on the ball and starts pushing I'll Walk right away. Just in time for prom season"....and wedding season!! That is what brought the tears for me...any daddy with any daughter at that moment.
ReplyDeleteI agree that #11 is great for the song which will be what it will end up as on Billboard, hopefully, this week. However, do not forget to brag that it did peak at #9 on Mediabase and Country Aircheck. So go on brag about Top 10, his press release did last week.
ReplyDeleteHi there, Anons!
ReplyDeleteAnon 12:22, thanks so much--nope, no one ever mentioned that Bucky was among the celebrity blurbers (is that a word? ;) on that Top 100 thing on CMT. Will mention it our front and will keep an eye out, as well--I know the channel repeats those from time to time. Thank you for the heads-up!
And Anon 12:24, thanks and you're absolutely right--Bucky's been mentioning "I'll Walk" as the next single for a while now during the tour. I've been looking for an official add date for "I'll Walk"--please feel free to share if/when you spot it!
Of course, requesting "It's Good to Be Us" right up until "I'll Walk"'s official release date is always smart--it does zero harm and does Bucky a lot of good, especially on the local level. It won't delay Lyric Street's release/add date for "I'll Walk" at all (release dates are based on a lot of other factors) and it will help Bucky's radio profile out immensely.
Hi, Anon 6:37! Yep, "It's Good to Be Us" is a hit by any measure, and that is something to be proud of. That Mediabase #9 is a fact! Top Ten bragging rights are a joy to have.
I am so with you, Anon 6:42, "I'll Walk" is an excellent spring single--proms, weddings--it's beautiful. Gotta love cheering for Bucky on the radio, period!
I'm thinking that "I'll Walk" will be a great summer hit for Bucky. Since ballads tend to help sales, this song may help introduce a whole new audience to all the sides of Bucky. Hopefully "I'll Walk" helps make new Bucky fans all over.
ReplyDeleteWho knows, this could even be a big "career" song for him, the one that really catapults him into the limelight.
It'll be great to see radio's reaction to a ballad from Bucky, and he sings this one so beautifully. High hopes here, too... :)
