Very quick Saturday news: The quest for Top 20 and more...

By request, Bucky Covington on stage at the Wildhorse Saloon in Nashville, 11/17; photo by the very gracious Buckyflowers, who shares more of her beautiful concert shots here. Thanks again, Buckyflowers! Bucky Covington's debut CD is in stores now, and his music videos are available for online viewing at CMT.com and Yahoo Music. You can buy Bucky's album at Amazon, Best Buy , iTunes, WalMart Music and Target, hear the full versions of his singles at CMT and GAC, or enjoy samples of songs from the CD at Bucky's official MySpace. A copy of Bucky Covington can be ordered at his official site or via his official fan club.

Here's a very quick sweep of Saturday's scene:

Upcoming shows: Bucky Covington's next two big appearances happen in Nashville on the same day! On January 12th , he'll return to the Grand Ole Opry, (click that link for tickets) with Joe Nichols, Rhonda Vincent, Opry member Del McCoury and the Old Crow Medicine Show. Before that, Bucky makes a non-singing stop at the 1:00 p.m. Backstage Garage Pass fan-fair session at the Sound and Speed event (tickets here). Check our Tour Info sidebar for links to lots more concert information, and stay tuned for an updated concert overview here this weekend...

Click here to see Bucky Covington's video, It's Good to Be Us, on CMT LoadedChart news: The "long"-running tune by a venerable band of hitmakers did a surprise hop upward this morning--Bucky's single "It's Good to Be Us" begins the weekend at #24 on both the weighted and Top 500 charts, but it's still poised to make that leap to Top 20 territory. This weekend, a little phone call could make a big impact! Keep requesting "It's Good to Be Us" at your favorite local or streaming country stations, watch the video at CMT, and show Bucky some affection at GAC's Top 20 Country Countdown, at CMT's Top 20 Countdown, and at CMT's Pure Country Pure 12-Pack. (That Top 20 status is crucial--as we saw with "A Different World" last summer, once Bucky's single crosses that line, many stations will feel comfortable getting on board. A worthwhile goal!)

Polls and surveys: That all important question-- "Which song from Bucky Covington would you like to hear on your radio next?"-- still awaits your answer at Bucky''s MySpace blog and at his official site. The Rickey.org "favorite American Idol album of 2007" poll and this week's Country Music song battle at About.com are still in progress this weekend, as well--they both end on the 7th.

Around the web and on the tube: Check out The Covington Times this morning for two excellent concert shots and a link to a great "Hometown" performance video. Bucky's popularity on many critics' "best or 2007" lists made the news at GAC.com yesterday; and you can catch his video for "It's Good to Be Us" on GAC-TV at about 1:38 ET this afternoon.

Also on TV today: Simon Cowell Uncut: 60 Minute Special on CMT at 1:30 p.m. ET. We have no clue whether Bucky and or/his fellow country Idols turned country stars Kellie Pickler, Josh Gracin and Carrie Underwood get a mention or not, but if you're a fan of Simon's (?) you might enjoy a peek. A sole post at the CMT message board for the special indicates that Simon's got some non-fans amongst country music lovers, too...

More soon--have a great Saturday!

I got a shock just now when I went over to Amazon to see how Bucky was holding up. OUCH almost at 17,000. I haven't seen his rank that bad in a very long time. I really hope his sales this week don't fall that bad. Last week at this time his rank was 1,554.

    (Im just a little concerned)

Bucky needs to see some national TV time.

  2. Hi there! Keep the faith, Anon--Amazon rankings are fun to watch (more fun when your favorites are doing well, I admit) but the real deal are those weekly sales numbers--and sometimes what's happening on Amazon doesn't reflect what's happening in Best Buy, Circuit City, WalMart and Target. :)

It's realiztic to hope for a boost among the true country fan audience when Grand Ole Opry Live airs next week, too--as Bucky himself said, sometimes people don't stop to pick up an album until they've heard and loved three songs on it. Chances are good that some GAC viewers will be in the same boat, hearing something that motivates them to make that trip... :)
