As The Covington Times reminded us so beautifully this morning, Bucky Covington's debut hit single, "A Different World", was released to FM radio exactly one year ago today. To celebrate, we found a terrific live acoustic version captured by the very kind Buckyroo--Bucky and a delighted crowd sing along to his first big hit, accompanied by none other than "A Different World" co-writer Jennifer Hanson. (Thanks, Greta!)
Bucky's current hit, "It's Good to Be Us", is moving up nicely in the world this week--it holds on to its Top 20 spot on both Mediabase charts tonight, and it rose to a bulleted #21 on this week's Radio & Records country singles chart, up from #24 last week. (Bucky and Kellie Pickler's radio successes are also mentioned in Sean Ross' interesting article about Idol's impact on radio at Edison Media Research this week--thanks to Ogopogo for the link.)
While we're talkin' radio...well, you didn't think I'd let an opportunity for a request nag---er, "reminder" to go by untaken, did you? Request "It's Good to Be Us" at your at your favorite local or streaming country station, and give Bucky a boost on those nationally syndicated country radio shows, too. Lia, The Big Time with Whitney Allen, After Midnite and Danny Wright All Night are looking for our input in the evenings--call or email, and spend a little time with Bucky on your speakers tonight...
We'll wind things down with a peek or two into the future, with thanks to Laura for the news--the video for And we may have a distant clue about Bucky's next big hit. "I'll Walk" is the current favorite on the "help choose the next single" poll, and it's been a longtime favorite at Fayetteville's WKML, where it took the #5 spot on the "Top 5 at 6" today without even technically being a single. (If you'd like to cast your vote for the next single from the Bucky Covington CD, click here now and let Bucky know what you like)
More soon!--Winnie
