This morning's New Year's Eve guide at SouthtownStar.com (run by the Chicago Sun-Times) features an article about the US99 New Year's Eve Ball with Bucky Covington, Luke Bryan and headliner Keith Anderson at the Holiday Inn Select & Convention Center in Tinley Park; looks like there's a lot to enjoy that evening, and an opportunity to do some good, too:
[T]he party offers party-goers the chance to tap in to their inner voice with live country karaoke featuring backup from a live band. The celebration also includes a charity casino operated by the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Chicagoland and Northwest Indiana. Attendees may play blackjack, poker, roulette and other games. All proceeds support Chicagoland Ronald McDonald houses.
Sounds like a good time--and a good place to let your inner Idol come out! Individual tickets ($88, concert only) and hotel/dinner/concert VIP packages (sold in pairs only) are still coming up at last check at Ticketmaster, but hurry.
There's a bit of a mixed signal given by a glance at the Mediabase weighted and Top 500 charts this morning. Although we're still looking at a largely bulletless scene as the non-seasonal songs regain their ground after all-holiday programming, the good news is that the slow, steady momentum for Bucky Covington's "It's Good to Be Us" is picking up right where it left off! Yesterday's good tidings at Radio & Records are underscored by today's chart moves at Mediabase--Bucky's single is up to #27 on the weighted chart and #28 on the Top 500.
We've still got those pre-recorded year-end countdowns to contend with soon, so as New Year's Day comes closer, check your local country station's website (always a good idea) to make sure the coast is clear for a request. If it is--ask for Bucky, y'all! "It's Good to Be Us" is a great song and a great sentiment to take into the new year....

Speaking of videos, remember GAC's Top 50 Videos of 2007 poll? Bucky had two eligible entries--his debut video, "A Different World" and his current exciting clip--and if you'd like to know how he and all your other favorites did, tune in starting tonight at 9 p.m. ET. Over the next five nights, Nan Kelley and her celebrity guests will count them down, and you can watch the list as it fills up on this page. Here's hoping there's a nice bit of Covington content in the countdown this week.
There's definitely some Covington content at YouTube today--and it's a rare treat, too. Head over here to see a terrific vintage video by Skracht Apple, featuring Bucky's current bandmates Ducky Medlock on lead vocals and Rocky Covington (in a tie!) on drums. (The mandolin player looks familiar, as well...)
And last, but not at all least, how about a mini-photopalooza to wind up the morning? There were a few great photographs we missed during 2007, but there's no time like now to enjoy some sweet concert memories. Here's a terrific gallery from Bucky's Country Thunder performance with Sawyer Brown, captured by Aaron, a talented Eric Church fan who also uploaded this short video snippet. Professional photographer Rob Singer posted a single--but stunning--photo from Bucky's DeKalb performance to his beautiful online portfolio. And for a whole bunch of Raisin' the Bar images, check out this big gallery from the 12/7 Allentown stop by the very kind JClarke. Have fun!
Concert update coming later--have a beautiful Thursday!
wow....you found some of the famous "Unleashed" performance. good eye! yeah, that mandolin player sure does look familiar.

Hey, Unknown...almost missed you way down here in the comments! You all sounded great--that would have definitely inspired me and my buds to see you play live if we'd lived in town and caught "Unleashed" on the tube. Very cool. Thanks for stopping in!
