Quick Monday news: chartgazing, good times and a Happy New Year in Chicago...

Bucky Covington on stage at Coyote Joe's in Charlotte, North Carolina on 11/23; photo by the very kind Buckwild08, who shares more of her great concert images at Photobucket. Her videos from that rockin' evening are available at YouTube. Thanks so much! Bucky Covington's debut CD is in stores now, and his music videos for "It's Good to Be Us" and "A Different World" are available for online viewing at CMT.com and Yahoo Music. You can buy Bucky's album at Amazon, Best Buy , iTunes, WalMart Music and Target, hear the full version of his singles at CMT and GAC, or enjoy samples of songs from the CD at Bucky's official MySpace. A copy of Bucky Covington can be ordered at his official site or via his official fan club.

We'll be back with lots more soon, but for now, here's a quick look at what's happening:

Last call for New Year's Eve fun in Chicago! Tickets for the US99 New Year's Eve Ball, featuring Bucky Covington, Luke Bryan and headliner Keith Anderson, go off sale at Ticketmaster at 3 p.m. today, but general admission tickets will still be available at the door. (If you're thinking about going, better get there early--and take a camera...)

And a reminder--ABC-TV affiliate WLS will be covering the Ball at Tinley Park along with other New Year's Eve events in their annual Countdown Chicago show tonight from 11:08 p.m.-12:15 a.m. Central time on the air at ABC7 , and via live streaming video from their site.

Bucky's next big day is on January 12th, when he'll participate in the 1:00 p.m. session at the Sound and Speed event in Nashville (tickets here), then take the legendary Ryman stage with his excellent band at the the Grand Ole Opry (tickets and calendar) with Joe Nichols, Rhonda Vincent, Opry member Del McCoury and the Old Crow Medicine Show. Keep up with Bucky's busy 2008 concert schedule at his official site , and be sure to add him as a MySpace friend for bulletins on the latest news. You can also follow him around the country via animated Gruvr tour map, and check out our December/January Concert Roundup--he's a must-see!

On the charts, it's deja-vu all over again, but things are getting back to almost-normal--bullets are slowly returning to the top 40, and the songs that were on their way up before holiday programming put the charts on pause are beginning to move out of negative-airtime territory. "It's Good to Be Us" starts the week at #25 on the Mediabase weighted chart and #26 on the Top 500. And after today's and tomorrow's pre-recorded year-end reviews, look for a sweet second wind! We can help, naturally--listen to your favorite local or streaming country station, and if there's a live DJ playing current tunes, request Bucky. It'll be fun to hit the ground running in 2008...

Click here to vote for Bucky at GAC.comBucky's video deserves a flying start for the new year, too. Watch "It's Good to Be Us" now at CMT, and give it a round of applause at GAC's Top 20 Country Countdown, CMT's Top 20 Countdown and at CMT's Pure Country Pure 12-Pack. (And if you're watching GAC as you get ready for your New Year's Eve fun, look for Bucky's video at about 10:32 a.m and 6:10 p.m. ET today on GAC-TV.)

Finally, stop in at The Covington Times for a sweet and lovely New Year's retrospective that's sure to make you smile. Enjoy!

Back with more here later--what a year it's been and what a time we've had! We'll talk about that soon--in the meantime, enjoy your Monday!

Wow...in the first shot Bucky looks so robust. haha I just saw him in person and he is the same hot but very skinny man so it must be the magic of camera angles. :) haha

Have a fun and fabulous New Year's Eve Ms. Buckymania! :D

Nostalgia, nostaligia, nostalgia...I am a post late but just finished reading the old post from MJ when she did not know if Bucky had made the Top 24. Then read Deb's old post of how she got hooked while watching with her child. It was the same with me, barely watching while reading a magazine and I heard this incredible vocal sound on the first note of Wave on Wave..I literally looked up from my magazine and said, "Whoa". After having watched AI each year, I picked up a pen for the first time ever to write this guy's call-in number and did...Talk about powerful. How can he do that..grab you from some other dimension and never let go?

This led to my search on the internet and then finding my other obsession..Buckymania, who by the way has me pretty hooked as well...just in a different way ;) Happy New Year. BF

  3. Anon 10:34, hi there and you've got a point about camera angles! I think in the olden days the phrase would have been "a tall drink of water"... :) Thanks, and I hope your New Year's Eve is wonderful!

And Buckyflowers, you're sweet--and you're not alone in feeling nostalgic today. Sometimes an honest, real, beautiful voice can do that--make us look up and listen and just say "wow." It's been an incredible journey from there to here.

It just goes to show what happens when a talented, hardworking guy with a dream and lots of kindhearted, appreciative people who love helping dreams come true get together... :)

Happy New Year to you, too!
