That very last minute holiday rush is on for some of us; for others, it's a time to relax and be merry. Whatever your plans are today, we're wishing you a lovely and joyous Christmas Eve! Bucky's Christmas greeting at CMT is a fun way to start the busy day--click that image at right and enjoy, then email it to a friend...We'll do one last pre-holiday chart sweep; Bucky's "It's Good to Be Us" is at #28 on the Mediabase weighted listings and #27 on the Top 500, with two invisible bullets. (Ahem!) On the plus side, Bucky's wild "Santa Claus is Coming to Town" took flight again last night; it's at #78. (Bucky's Christmas single makes a great digital stocking stuffer, too! Snag it now at WalMart Music, Yahoo Music or iTunes.)
Many radio stations are in all-holiday mode, with syndicated, pre-recorded programming for the next two days; if you're blessed with a country station with a live DJ, thank him or her for being there on a holiday, and request Bucky!

We're going to follow the lead of our wise friends at The Covington Times today--what better way to celebrate than to look back at some sweet holiday memories? Last year brought us the GAC Christmas tour and that awesome surprise of "A Different World" on Sirius Christmas night; who knows what big news tomorrow might bring? In the meantime, enjoy some great video "blasts from the past". (Credits at end of post.)
Photo of Bucky Covington on stage in Canton, Ohio during last year's GAC Christmas Tour; photo by the very kind dbrosch. Thanks so much!Park your one-horse open sleigh at YouTube and enjoy some fantastic footage--"Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree", "Please Come Home for Christmas", Different World" and "Suspicious Minds" are all there for your enjoyment, filmed at various tour stops by talented fans. Check out a rousing "Suspicious Minds" in two beautiful clips (part one and part two) at GoFish, where there's lots of Bucky Covington brilliance to enjoy. And over at Google, gorgeous gifts from the final GAC show in Weldon are got rave reviews everywhere! Enjoy "Different World" and "Please Come Home for Christmas" while those cakes and cookies cool.
A bit of bonus non-performance video for you, too: the amazingly cool Blue County guys took some funny footage at a truck stop while the tour buses were being repaired, and shared it in their MySpace video diary. (And of course, Buck Wild also has your fan-video needs covered, always...)
Coming right back up to the present, how about live versions of "Santa Claus is Coming to Town" and "Please Come Home for Christmas" from last week's Tallahasse concert to round out the holiday video collection?
Speaking of videos (yep, another smooth segue), the stores might be closing early today, but the countdown voting ballots are pretty much open 24/7! So if you have a moment during your busy day, pop in and give Bucky a little gift of your own. Watch the video at CMT, and vote for "It's Good to Be Us" at GAC's Top 20 Country Countdown, CMT's Top 20 Countdown and CMT's Pure Country Pure 12-Pack.Merry Christmas to you! I'll probably stop in one last time before my holiday blogging break, but if I don't see you, have a joyous and beautiful day and a brilliant 2008 filled with laughter, music and love!
(Big thanks again to Blu, Leaf, Dixiegirl7, Honeygirl, Happy, Hildi, MJ, Kathy, Lisa, Vgill, Buckyflowers, Sunscreen, dbrosch, buckybee, buckyroo, "Tracey from Ohio" and to everyone who shared photos, clips, recaps, and smiles from the GAC tour last year. If I missed your name, please do let me know in comments--I want to give credit where credit's due! Thanks, y'all.)
they updated mediabase this afternoon. And that didn't help us any. The bullets have completely left us, 500 chart now has -84 and this morning it was only -1. I really hope we can get this back. This really bummed out my day.
ReplyDeleteI can't believe how much Bucky's chart numbers and sales numbers affect me.
On the good side of things Allaccess has Bucky at a +128% for sales this week. So if thats correct or even close thats a great sales boost. 4000+128%= 9000+units (If my calculator is correct)
I agree that this has affected my whole day..here I am with family at this beautiful time of year and I am despondent over this chart action. I am getting paranoid and really think it is a conspiracy. Why in the world are those mature songs hanging on so long, not giving Bucky a chance to rise?
ReplyDeleteI know, I know..just a little bit too Bucky crazy but this is the most frustrated I have been since I have been following Bucky's charts.
Hey, y'all...
ReplyDeleteWell, you're going to be totally unsurprised at my thoughts, which are...keep the faith. Things look kind of blah today, but they could look very different by this time two weeks from now.
This is the first time we've been watching a single this closely over the holidays, when playlists are very unusual (everything from all-Christmas to completely pre-recorded multi-hour marathon shows) and airtime for newer or mid-chart music is notoriously hard to come by. After Christmas, the year-end specials (also largely pre-recorded) will dominate the airwaves, and only after that's done will we be on a normal footing again.
I won't pretend it's all sunshine and roses--I sure hate seeing a negative number, too! But the holiday airplay whirl is making it hard to see what the real trend might be. We'll do what we've always done--keep requesting and voting.
Don't let those charts get you down for the holidays! To quote one of my favorite philosophers, "If something's bothering you, don't dwell on it. Just let it go. Worrying ain't gonna do nothing but make it worse." (To which I'd add, requesting can only help make it better...and our requests will be much more likely to result in airtime after the holidays.)
2008 is gonna rock...really. Hang in there!
