Wednesday news: Power Picks, Operation Home and more...

Bucky Covington on stage in Nashville, 11/17; photo by the very kind Buckaholic, who shares more of her lovely concert memories here. Thanks, Buckaholic! Bucky Covington's debut CD is in stores now, and his music video for "A Different World" is available for online viewing at CMT.com and Yahoo Music. You can buy Bucky's album at Amazon, Best Buy , iTunes, WalMart Music and Target, hear the full versions of his singles at CMT and GAC, or enjoy samples of songs from the CD at Bucky's official MySpace. A copy of Bucky Covington can be ordered at his official site or via his official fan club.

Bucky Covington's "It's Good to Be Us" is one of the contenders during today's CMT
Power Picks video-challenge show. The program starts at noon ET, and Bucky's matchup will happen during the first half-hour; click here to go directly to the Power Picks main page, hit the "Vote Now" link, and stand by to cast your vote for Bucky. It's a fun way to give thanks for a great video! (Thanks again to Laura.)

Ogopogo sent me a reminder about a wonderful way to say thanks to the servicemen and women who'll be away from home this year--Operation Home was started last year as a non-partisan/non-political drive by kind Daughtry fans who wanted to send the troops their thanks, Daughtry CDs and a bit of "Home" for the holidays. Since then it has become a year-round drive, with fans of many different artists sending music, packages and goodwill. Operation Home has a MySpace with all the information you'll need--be sure to read their guidelines before making a friend request. Many thanks to Ogopgo for the heads-up!

In a similarly giving spirit, check out the ongoing Every Body Is Beautiful auctions, whch benefit the National Eating Disorders Association; Sara Evans is the chairperson for the auctions, and Bucky Covington has donated a desirable gift package (autographed T-shirt, CD and poster) and a signed Hohner acoustic guitar to the cause. Country artists and country fans are generous souls--it's a pleasure to give back, isn't it?

Ready for some more great Wildhorse memories? Buckaholic's beautiful concert shots are available at Photobucket now--and this one's definitely a favorite. Thanks to Buckaholic for sharing!

On the Mediabase charts, Bucky's "It's Good to Be Us" is still #31 on the weighted chart, and it took a mini pole-vault hit (but still holds a nice bullet) on the Top 500, where it's #32 this morning. Keep requesting "It's Good to Be Us" at your favorite local or streaming country station, and do hit those local "Top X at X" countdowns, too! (Some of our beloved local and syndicated radio shows may or may not have special holiday programming this weekend--be sure to tune in and listen before requesting...)

Check out Pure 12 Pack on CMT.com. See show times, episodes and vote on your favorite videos.Bucky's video is doing very well--the "making of" clip is now the third-most watched video on the AmericanIdol.com home page! We can show it even more affection at GAC's Top 20 Country Countdown, at CMT's Top 20 Countdown, at the GAC Top 50 Videos of the Year poll and at CMT's Pure Country Pure 12-Pack. (Today's the final day of the week for 12-Pack voting, and opportunity's doing some unlimited knocking there...it'd be great to see the video top that chart again.)

Dashing off to run some pre-holiday errands, but I'll see you right here later today. Happy Thanksgiving, everybody!

I think my biggest angst about the current single is that I don't want it to take 6 months to peak like ADW did. Mostly because at some point, I'd like to see Bible and the Belt released. That Wildhorse video was hawt. I think that could end up being a big hit for him.

  2. You know, I'd really enjoy hearing "Bible and the Belt" on the radio too--it is a hot one, recorded and live! I think "It's Good to Be Us" will take a shorter time overall to climb than "A Different World" did, but this mid-chart stall is indeed annoying right now. Guessing that once it gets over the Top 25 mark, airplay will catch fire ...but again, I am no expert on the charts (far from it!) so that's just intuition talking.

Bucky's airplay (spin numbers) and number of stations playing him are increasing every day.
The problem (rising in the #category) is simply the lead country singers are elevated over him with huge Jump numbers. Eventually the top 5 will go recurrent and he will move up.

that Power Picks screen wouldn't open to the competing videos for me today!
