Kathy's got the latest at Team Covington! If you haven't been there already, head over there now to find out all about Bucky's new touring band, featuring Don Medlock on acoustic guitar and Rocky Covington on percussion, along with new members Jefferson Jarvis on keyboards, Jeff Cease on lead guitar, Stephen Cook on bass, Tom Hurst on drums, and Caitlin Evanson on fiddle and mandolin. (A few of those faces and voices might be familiar to those of us who've had the pleasure of enjoying the GAC Christmas tour last year or of hearing Bucky's fantastic labelmate Trent Tomlinson in concert...)
The newly augmented band will take the stage for the firt time at the Raleigh, NC Raisin' the Bar show at the Longbranch Saloon on Friday, 11/16.
If you'd like to see them all up close and personal-- along with Bucky's rockin' tourmates Jason Michael Carroll and Cole Deggs & the Lonesome, you'll want to hit one (or several!) of the remaining dates on the Raisin' the Bar tour. Kathy's also got the scoop on today's WQDR 94.7 radiothon, to benefit the NC Children's Promise of the North Carolina Children's hospital. Click here for her excellent post, which includes a link to the benefit auction items, a full performance schedule (Bucky's on at 6:30 to 7:00, local time), a link to stations carrying the broadcast and more. Thanks to Kathy for her great coverage of an event for a great cause!
I'm sneaking online from a cyber kiosk at a convention center (I'm supposed to be working...ahem), but I'll try to pop back in ASAP with an update and a guitar pull photo search. In the meantime, Kicks99's photo page and the Kix96 gallery might be updated soon--bookmark those sites and keep checking!
And what would a Buckymania post be without a bit of nagging? Keep requesting "It's Good to Be Us" at your favorite local country stations (a phone call is the best way to give Bucky your hometown support), hit up those "Top X at X' countdowns, call, email or AIM your favorite syndicated country radio host tonight and give "It's Good to Be Us" the thumbs up, and give him a round of applause at GAC's Top 20 Country Countdown, at CMT's Top 20 Countdown, at the GAC Top 50 Videos of the Year poll and at CMT's Pure Country Pure 12-Pack.
Edited to add another possible voting opportunity--a kind anonymous commenter left the following news on our goodbye-for-now post (links added by yours truly):
I was reading at youtube and there are some folks trying to get Bucky's IG2BU video onto the VH1 Top 20 Music Video Countdown. Go to VH1.com and find the top 20 page. You have to enter Bucky's name and song title. Then drag it to the #1 spot on the right side of the page...
Apparently the song is a hit with both country fans and motocross enthusiasts, who'd like to see it on VH1 as well as on the country music cable and radio stations we know and adore. If you'd like to see Bucky on VH1 as well, add that link to your voting bookmarks and give it a whirl...
See you as soon as possible--have a great week!
(P.S.--very busy business trip. Someone gave me a heads up about the actual day of the week...whoops! Sorry, y'all--Winnie)
I see Jefferson Jarvis has already updated his site saying he's on tour with Bucky Covington. Trent's site indicates a Nov 21 date is cancelled to be rescheduled into Spring. I gather there is more to unfold on the new band story.

Thanks for finding the kiosk and posting for us Winnie! I have been suffering from Buckymania withdrawal.
ReplyDeleteWe love you and appreciate you!
Thanks, Anon! You are truly sweet--I sure miss posting every morning! I'll be happy to be back next week... :)
ReplyDeleteAnd hi, Pogo! I think you're right. I really like Trent, too--he's terrific--and I enjoyed his band when I saw him in October.
