Bucky Covington and Rocky Covington enjoy a musical moment on stage at the Big Spring Jam in Huntsville in this striking photo by Susu, who shared the fun that evening with her good friend Happydays. Click the image to see many beautiful shots from that show. Thanks again to Susu and Happydays! Bucky Covington's debut CD is in stores now, and his music video for "A Different World" is available for online viewing at CMT.com and Yahoo Music. You can buy Bucky's album at Amazon, Best Buy , iTunes, WalMart Music and Target, hear the full version of his single "A Different World" at CMT and GAC, or enjoy samples of songs from the CD at Bucky's official MySpace. A copy of Bucky Covington can be ordered at his official site or via his official fan club.Wednesday morning begins with a look at a thought-provoking article about changing times in country music in today's Milwaukee Journal Sentinel--Bucky Covington is among the "new batch of shining stars" mentioned in the story:
For the first time since the late '80s, the country charts are awash in new or emerging artists: Sugarland. Carrie Underwood. Miranda Lambert. Taylor Swift. Kellie Pickler. Big & Rich. Jason Aldean. Luke Bryan. Bucky Covington. Little Big Town. The Wreckers. Eric Church. Rodney Atkins. Trent Tomlinson. Bobby Pinson. Jake Owen. Heartland. Jason Michael Carroll. Danielle Peck.
Open the discussion to include relative newcomers such as Keith Urban, Gretchen Wilson, Dierks Bentley, Rascal Flatts, Trace Adkins and Brad Paisley, and it's apparent that a new generation of hit-makers has taken over in Music City.
Bucky, Rocky, Don, Shaun and Hans bring that fantastic live show to Austin next for a very good cause--the KASE 101 Country Concert for the Cure benefits the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, which is dedicated to education and research about causes, treatment, and the search for a cure. The 18-and-over show happens on October 4th at Graham Central Station and tickets may be available right here for $15 in advance, plus $2 surcharge; $20 at the door. Only 1100 tickets are being sold for this one, so if you haven't snagged yours yet, now''s the time...
(We'll put in our usual plug for the Tour Info section of our sidebar, where you'll find links to Bucky's official tour schedule, expanded details on tickets and venues in our Concert Roundup, Raisin' the Bar news and more. Get out and see these guys, y'all!)
And of course, while you're waiting for the tour bus to cross your city limits, there's always the radio. Bucky's new single "It's Good to Be Us" is still in a fierce Top 40 wrestling match with the two songs nearby--this morning, it's #40 on the Mediabase weighted chart and #39 on the Top 500 listings, with bullets. Keep requesting "It's Good to Be Us" at your favorite local or streaming country station, and keep those local "Top X at X" and nationally syndicated shows in mind. The video for the song (which will be a major joy to watch!) will be out on October 12th--and wouldn't it be fun to see a sharp upturn in the charts in time for those big GAC and CMT premieres?
Okay, there's a simple one-word answer to that question--yes!--but for questions answered with a lot more style, head over to Bucky's official MySpace blog, where you can hear Bucky's own reply to the fan-submitted question of the day. If you'd like to ask him a good question yourself, leave a comment on this post. Have fun! Rocky Covington's also getting a Q&A ready-- ask him a question in his guestbook, and you might see your answer at RockyCovington.com soon...
We'll wind down with a repeat link you're going to love--Kathy of Team Covington enjoyed Bucky's Coshcoton show on Monday, and her recap, photos and videos are just magnificent. Click here to visit her beautiful blog, and enjoy!
More soon--have a wonderful Wednesday!
Very interesting article. I can look back to times when a really really good live concert got me to buy an almbum or v/v so he has a point. :-) Good morning!!
ReplyDeletegood article-changing of the guard.
ReplyDeleteand, fame is fleeting or don't try to sell me crap? after showering Gretchen Wilson with awards, people didn't like her second CD?
"a copy/the material wasn't there". I guess you still have to put out a wow sophomore CD. I admired her spunk but found her dour (stern, severe & gloomy looking). Perhaps fans prefer more upbeat and uplifting performers/performances now.
there might be a lesson in that-
maybe Bucky should keep putting Singles out that
rock. pogo
Hi, Dina and Pogo! :)Dina, I am so with you on the whole live show and CD connection--there have been plenty of times where I was "just along for the ride" at a concert with friends, enjoyed a great show and bought the CD the next day!
ReplyDeleteAnd Pogo, you are right about the essential wow sophomore album--I think the bigger the debut album is, the tougher it is to "wow" the media again.
And it's true that for today's younger (or young at heart) listeners, the high-energy feeling of much contemporary country is a big attraction. It's not a hard and fast rule (think of "Alyssa Lies", and how that one seemed to draw fans of all ages to JMC's talents) but it is something to consider. Sugarland and Kenny Chesney are doing well live and on the radio, Keith Urban has been a big concert star for a while now...so the author had a point about that, I think. Bucky puts on an extremely energetic show, and that bodes very well for his future!
