Friday news: ticket alert, new interview, chartgazing and more (updated with new concert info)

Bucky Covington sings from the heart at the KNCI Country in the Park concert in Sacramento; photo by the very talented Minnie, who shares more of her stunning images from the performance in her Photobucket gallery. Thanks again, Minnie! Bucky Covington's debut CD is in stores now, and his music video is available for online viewing at CMT.com and Yahoo Music. You can buy Bucky's album at Amazon, Best Buy , iTunes, WalMart Music and Target, hear the full version of his single "A Different World" at CMT and GAC, or enjoy samples of songs from the CD at Bucky's official MySpace. A copy of Bucky Covington can be ordered through his official site or via his official fan club.

First things first--if you're in the Tulsa area, tickets to the hottest country show of the fall are available locally starting today. Bucky Covington, Jason Michael Carroll and Cole Deggs & the Lonesome will bring the Raisin' the Bar tour to Cain’s Ballroom on October 28th, and if you want to snag a spot, we'd suggest getting that very hot ticket early. Grab yours online at GetTix.net, by phone at 866.443.8849, or in person at the Cain's Box Office, Starship Records & Tapes, Reasor's Customer Service, or Tan & Tone America in Oklahoma City. Good luck and have a fantastic time at the show!

Bucky's also the subject of a new interview in today's Ashland, KY Herald-Dispatch, in which he speaks about the joys of outdoor concerts and about his gratitude for how he got his start:

Covington never expected to be on a show like American Idol, but taking advantage of that opportunity has paid off.

"It's one of the best things I ever did," said Covington. "That show has done a lot for me. I wasn't getting any younger, and it got my name out there, and did it fast and quick. We walked out of there with some great fans, and ever since then, we have been able to get more fans. It's an awesome start. I wouldn't trade it for the world."

Bucky's Kentucky area fans (and fans to be) can catch him at the Poage Landing Days concert tomorrow evening, along with Raisin' the Bar tourmates Cole Deggs & the Lonesome. Here's the scoop:

Be sure to bookmark our September Concert Roundup post and the tour page on Bucky's official site for much more information on Bucky, Rocky, Don, Shaun and Hans' concerts this fall and winter--they're a must-see combination.

Bucky's brand new single "It's Good to Be Us" is a must-hear on your radio, too--it starts the morning with a healthy jump to #47 on the Mediabase weighted chart, and to #45 on the Top 500 . (Yes, Top 40 is right around the corner! ) Request "It's Good to Be Us" at your favorite local or streaming country station, especially if you've heard Bucky live and/or on the radio in your neck of the woods lately. (Good music travels fast!) And as we noted yesterday, the chances are excellent that he's already been added to your hometown station's "Top X at X" ballot. If he isn't there just yet, feel free to give him some love at WKML today with a request at country@wkml.com (online listeners welcome) and tune into the WMKL "Top 5 at 6" tonight at 6 p.m. ET. Will "It's Good to Be Us" be one of the most requested songs in Fayetteville tonight? It sure would be fun to hear him finish the week with a bang...

We'll close for now with with a positive mention of Bucky's debut CD in an unusual place. Today's Cibola County Beacon features a thought provoking "Fire at Will" sports column; at the end, the author adds: "Check out the self-titled debut CD by Bucky Covington, country music fans. Covington blends a modern country sound and classic country heart-break that everyone can enjoy." Interestingly enough, that recommendation comes right behind a bit of philosophy that echoes a sentiment Bucky's expressed in many an interview:

Live your life the way you want and be big enough to deal with the consequences, good or bad. I know I don't want to look back on my life and say, “what if?” If I did that, I would not be true to myself.

And life is not fun watching from the sidelines, so get in the game and take a risk.

Or as Bucky would put it, "If you want to do it, then get out there and do it." Wise words to take into the weekend...

More soon--have a fantastic Friday!

Edited to add--looks like there's a new September concert date on Bucky's calendar, according to the tour page at his official site. Bucky will be at the Edenton Fairgrounds in Edenton, NC on September 21st;
for ticket information, call (252) 482-2297. (So far, the only other reference we could find to this show was via opening band Avalanche's site--we'll keep you posted if we discover anything more.) Congratulations to Bucky's (and Avalanche's) NC fans!--Winnie
