Quick Wednesday update: Chart gazing, CMA Awards announcements tomorrow and more

Thanks again, Mr. Crisler! By request, a blast from the past-- Bucky Covington stops for a smile at an autograph signing session during this year's CMA Fest. Photo by Aaron Crisler/ Music City Update.com. Bucky Covington's debut CD is in stores now, and his music video is available for online viewing at CMT.com and Yahoo Music. You can buy Bucky's album at Amazon, Best Buy, iTunes, WalMart Music and Target, hear the full version of his single "A Different World" at CMT and GAC, or enjoy samples of songs from the CD at Bucky's official MySpace. An autographed copy of Bucky Covington can be ordered while supplies last at his official site or via his official fan club.

(We'll be offline for most of the day due to some remodeling and construction here in the building. Please stop in again for our main information post this evening! Until then, here's a quick sweep of the news...)

Bucky Covington's not-quite-released new tune, "It's Good to Be Us", is still making its way up the charts ahead of schedule--it rose five spots overnight to land on the Mediabase weighted chart at #70 with a bullet, and it's now #77 on the Top 500. (Looks like we've got a hot one here, y'all.) Not only that, a friend reports that it's already among the top five requested songs at WKML! Their "Top 5 at 6" is a fun way to start your evening, and you can enjoy it via streaming audio; if you'd like to request Bucky there, send them an email at country@wkml.com and let them know you're listening over the air or online.

Bucky's new song may very well be on the airwaves at your local station, too! Yes.com is a great way of keeping up with who's playing Bucky and when, and of course, nothing beats turning on the radio and listening in. (Even today, how much fun is it to just be out driving or working when you hear the first chords of "A Different World" blasting from your speakers?) Now we've got two terrific Bucky Covington tunes to enjoy on the radio. If your station is among the ones playing "It's Good to Be Us", give them some positive feedback after you've heard it...

Bucky's a hot one on the live front, as well--the September Concert Roundup is now available (see previous post), and some of Bucky's upcoming shows are filling up fast. Congratulations to all who managed to snag a ticket to October's very popular Foothills Fall Festival in Maryville, Tennessee...the concerts are completely sold out! The next show for Bucky, Rocky, Hans, Shaun and Don sounds like a classic good time in the heartland:

Last, but definitely not least, autumn brings a very big event on the country music scene. From the kind folks at Music City Update:

Jennifer Nettles, Kristian Bush and Sara Evans will announce the final nominees in several categories for the 2007 CMA Awards live Thursday, Aug. 30, from the "Good Morning America" studios in the heart of New York City's Times Square on the ABC Television Network. The announcements on "Good Morning America" with Sugarland and Evans will take place in the 8:30 AM portion of the ABC news program (all time zones).

Broadcasting live from Nashville, CMT's Katie Cook and Lance Smith will present exclusive coverage of the remaining 2007 CMA Awards nominee announcements with Montgomery Gentry and Swift in a special half-hour edition of "CMT Insider," premiering Thursday, Aug. 30 (10:00 AM/ET; 9:00 AM/CT) on CMT.

The special will re-air on CMT immediately following the live broadcast at 10:30 AM/ET; and again at 1:00 PM/ET; and on Friday, Aug. 31 at 8:00 AM/ET and 1:30 PM/ET; and Saturday, Sept. 1 at 10:30 AM/ET. (Updated to link to a review of Bucky's new single at CountryUniverse.com--nope, they'll never be wild-eyed, screaming fans over there, but "It's Good to Be Us" gets a gratifying thumbs up, nonetheless. It's also the "Up and Coming Song of the Week" at NewCountryZone.com. Thanks, y'all!)

More this evening--have a wonderful Wednesday!

Is it just me, or is the 'Listen' link on the Country Universe site a different version of It's Good to Be Us? It sounds different than the version on the cd. I like it though :)

That version is definitely different. The one on the CD starts out with a "yes" and this one starts out with a "Let's Go!" during the introduction. There are some other subtle differences through out but very minor. IT's ALL GOOD!

  3. Thanks, Mumbler and Bunny--I had a vague memory of hearing something about a "single version" of the track. (I can't get the clip at CU to work for me but will definitely keep an ear out. :)

The sales for this week are in.....OUCH.....
Bucky slipped from 97-115 with sales of just below 6k a -21% drop. That just hurts....

    In other news....
On the Allaccess site Lyric Street is running a add at the top of the site for IG2BU. It says "for immediate airplay" YEA!!!

  5. Hi Marzy--ouch is right! "It's Good to Be Us" will probably reverse that trend when it gets to be a bit more familiar on radio, though--it seems to have a good buzz going already. And thanks for the AllAccess ad news--will check that out! :)

I forgot to give you the total sales to date. 260,000
    Downloads of ADW
drops from 145-158 selling 6k total of 160,000.
It looks like all the idols took a hit this week with album sales.

Don't get discouraged about those sales numbers. It took Billy Currington almost 2 years to go platinum. For a new artist and an 8th place finisher on Idol, his sales have been more than respectable and he has stayed in the Billboard 200 longer than Taylor Hicks.

I look at this interim time before the next single goes to adds as a good time to stop and smell the rose and celebrate a stellar first CD and amazing live performances from coast to coast. It is good to be us people!!

  8. Beesims, you are so right--he's doing great. Not to mention how wonderful his new single sounds blasting from my speakers! I am off to find a rose to stop and smell now... :)
