Monday news: Sirius fun, chartgazing and more...

Bucky Covington and Rocky Covington (on drums) share a word with the audience at Bucky's recent Lycoming County Fair show; photo courtesy of the_mumbler, who shares more great shots--and videos!--from the concert here. (Thanks again!) Bucky Covington's debut CD is in stores now, and his music video is available for online viewing at CMT.com and Yahoo Music. You can buy Bucky's album at Amazon, Best Buy, iTunes , WalMart Music and Target, hear the full version of his single "A Different World" at CMT and GAC, or enjoy samples of songs from the CD at Bucky's official MySpace. An autographed copy of Bucky Covington can be ordered while supplies last at his official site or via his official fan club.

Bucky's got a few days off, but the radio never rests, y'all--his hit debut single, "A Different World", opens the day at #10 on on both the Mediabase weighted and Top 500 charts, and with a couple of huge hits now making their graceful way down from the top of the charts, some prime territory may be up for the taking soon. (Does Top Five sound good to anyone out there? Thought it might!) Opportunity is knocking--keep requesting "A Different World" at your favorite local and streaming country stations, keep calling and voting in those local "Top X at X" countdowns and your favorite nationally syndicated shows, and give Bucky some affection at CMT's Top 20 Countdown and GAC's Top Twenty Country Countdown, too.

And since we're on the topic of radio, here's a friendly reminder of a special feature that's sure to make the concert break a whole lot easier to bear. Sirius Satellite Radio's "The Daily Bucky" begins tonight on New Country Channel 60. From the station's homepage:

The Daily Bucky!
July 16 - July 20 at 9 pm ET
Bucky Covington’s first single, “Different World” is a New Country hit! Wanna hear his next one? How about the next four? Tune in to New Country every night at 9 pm ET from the 16th thru the 20th to hear Bucky sing a special SIRIUS exclusive version of one of his songs. He’ll chat with Al Skop about each song before he plays ‘em. We wouldn’t let just anyone sing for you every night for a week, this guy’s got talent!

If you're a Sirius subscriber, you won't want to miss this exclusive treat. And if you haven't yet joined, Sirius still offers a free three day online trial. Don't be surprised if you find yourself pulling out the plastic on day four--it's that much fun. Enjoy!

Hits Daily Double 's album sales estimates will crank up for the week at approximately 7:30 a.m. Pacific, with the final estimates posted tomorrow afternoon. Bucky Covington graced the #12 spot on Billboard's Top Country Albums chart last week--could the positive buzz from those excellent festival shows have inspired a bump in sales this time around? Stay tuned and see...

Click here to vote for Bucky at About.com
(Click the image to vote for Bucky Covington in the AboutCountry "Album of the Year" poll, now through July 16th. Vote as often as you like.)

We'll close for the morning with some online voting news; the AboutCountry poll ends today, so be sure to cast your vote for Bucky in the "Album of the Year" category right away. And here's a update on the long-running Moosak polls--word has it that they're morphing into a social networking/voting format, and away from the previous chat/voting structure. As we've said before, online polls are a lot of fun--but when it comes to Bucky's long term outlook, the most important poll is the one your local radio station takes every day by phone, via the good old Request Line. Cast that vote today, and you're helping to keep Bucky on the radio for years to come!

More later--have a lovely Monday...

    In Memorial of Moosak.
Although just a voting, chatting poll, it was much more to us who supported , campaigned, bragged, notified, loved, cried, raged, celebrated, introduced, laughed, created, bonded, grew, learned, threw confetti, and obsessed about Bucky Covington. We were there long before he reached #10 on the charts, wishing and hoping and dreaming and finally meeting each other when he debuted at the Opry. The experience will be missed but maybe it happened at the right time. All things happen for a reason . I guess it was time to move on.

Im a little sad with the HDD numbers today, no sign of Bucky at all and the lowest numbers right now are in the 4000's Bucky is normally around 6000 by now. There are 8 country in the top 50 right now. Im crossing my fingers that we see him make an appearance once in the top 50 just to see how his numbers are. I would love to see him go GOLD.
I know that slow and steady wins the race...However not too slow.
    SO everyone Go buy BUCKY......Please....Thanx

Sorry Winnie im a number person. And up till now I have loved all of Bucky numbers..*lol*

  4. Hey there, Diver and Anons! Just coming in from real-life work (gets in the way of fun sometimes) and catching up...

Diver, I am so sorry about Moosak--that really was a community in the truest sense of the word. I am still holding out a sliver of hope the the owners will reconsider the new experiment--but in the meantime, the tight knit group that supported Bucky and befriended each other there is a beautiful force to be reckoned with. Onward and upward!

And Anon 4:05, no need to apologize...it's always a bummer when the numbers are low! No worries, though--when there's a slow sales week (and this might be a slow sales week for CDs across the board, not just Bucky's) it feels better to think of the very big picture, and the very big picture--with one hit single in progress and lots of potential follow up hits on the album--is still pretty good. He'll definitely go gold--whether that happens slowly or quickly, it will happen. (Having said that, quickly would be fun...but we'll be happy about that gold record, either way. :)

Anon 4;22, thanks for the About update! I'll add that to the next post--that was quite some round!

  6. That was an amazingly lovely rendition of "A Different World"--one of the sweetest ever.

Bucky Covington has a heck of a voice.

    Wow...

I think he needs a new single to push the album. Sales are starting to stagnant because ADW is over 6 months old at this point. But it still apparently has life left in it and it would be crazy to pull the plug now. It should peak pretty soon and then on to the next single. Which will hopefully be from the upbeat side to show the casual buyer what else he's got.

It's still amazing that he's sold as many albums as he has so far. He's almost halfway to gold already. That is not the norm for new country artists despite what the misguidance of the Idol juggernaut teaches us. Most new artists struggle to sell 100,000 albums over the life of the record.

I was also going to say it looks like the country albums as a whole are lower this week.
