Bucky Covington performs at the Complete Country Show at the Greased Lightning® Daytime Stages at Riverfront Park on Thursday, June 7 in Downtown Nashville during the 2007 CMA Music Festival. (Provided by Country Music Association. Photo: Teresa Montgomery/ CMA.)The ABC "CMA Music Festival: Country’s Night to Rock" two hour special begins in a few moments at 9:00 p.m. ET--we're not sure if Bucky Covington is part of the festivities filmed for the special, but we are sure it'll be a good time for country music fans everywhere.
(Edited for those out West--we didn't see Bucky at all, but the music's a fun way to spend a couple of hours. Enjoy the show!)
I know Bucky's people have done many great things with Bucky's career but why can't they seem to get him on network TV yet a few artists who did not chart as high as Bucky are all over network TV?
ReplyDeleteIm a little ticked not only with tonites show but also with the GMA show he appeared on. They never aired any performance from that show. And he was advertised as performing.
ReplyDeleteOn a good note, looking closely at mediabase weighted chart, Bucky is has 1 million more Aud imp than Jason Aldean so if that holds we should see #6 soon. Plus Big & Rich are falling so hopefully they fall fast enough for Bucky to hit #5 before some of the heavy hitters pass him.
Now COME ON Lyric Street get our boy some TV time.....NOW....Please
OK im done now.*lol*

Hi, y'all--I'm disappointed and mystified, too. I understand he's a rookie, etc., but the man has a Top Ten hit now, he sang it at LP Field, he's on Lyric Street--why not include it (or even part of it) in the show? It's a head scratcher.
ReplyDeleteHowever, I am not in the music biz nor the TV programming or packaging field at present, so I will give the parties concerned the benefit of the doubt...however, I am so with you on the notion of more Bucky Covington performances on network TV.
Great news on the charts though, Marzy! You are right about #6 soon, I believe, and looking at Big & Rich's falling from #1, that would be opportunity knocking yet again... :)
Does anyone know if getting a top5 hit or even a number1 hit their first song is normal or an unusual happeneing. I only ask cause KP only made it to #15 with "RHH". And even Taylor Swift only got to #6 with her monster hit "Tim M".
ReplyDelete~m~
It is a big deal for sure. :D
ReplyDeleteI would LOVE to see ADW hit top 5 this week.. How sweet that would be. And TAKE THAT to all the ney sayers.
ReplyDeleteIm proud to be a Bucky fan....its GREAT to be us..lol
I agree with Anon--it's a big accomplishment! Among other country singers who've gone Top Five or higher with debut singles: Faith Hill ("Wild One, #1), Blake Shelton ("Austin, #1), Jo Dee Messina ("Heads Carolina, Tails California", #2), and Toby Keith ("Should've Been a Cowboy", #1). Bucky will be in excellent company... :)
ReplyDeleteBut the list of artists who did not score a top 10 with their first single would be super duper huge!
ReplyDeleteJason Michael Carroll's debut single Allyssa Lies went to #5. His debut CD debuted at #1 on Country Charts and was the highest opener since Billy Ray Cyrus until Bucky's debut CD sold more and took the title. JMC was not on the show. Perhaps, with Kelly, Carrie and Kellie, they felt former American Idol contestests were already overly represented. I don't know. Chris Young was not on. After that battle of the 6 digits, that is comforting in a way. I admit, it stung me, too. I guess we just have to have faith.
ReplyDeletePS: Half of the artists presently in the TOP 20 on mediabase were on the show. So chart action is important. Ditto to disappointed and mystified. -BF-
ReplyDeleteNot sure Lyric Street had any control over who got the airtime. Face it, Carrie, TaylorS and Kellie are the TV darlings....and the men they chose had all been around for longer than Bucky and JMC. BUt, we should be very grateful that Bucky was even invited to both RiverFront and LP Field....that in itself is major accomplishment for him when the artists were announced WAY before the album was released and ADW was probably only 15 or so at the time of CMA fest. IMHO. TV will get him on eventually!
ReplyDeleteHi and thanks for the great info, all!
ReplyDeleteYep, the Country Music Association were the actual producers of the show--so they would be the ones to have the final say in who got the spotlight this year, I imagine. It's a very safe bet that Bucky will have had several major hits by this time next year, so the 2008 special should be fun to watch for all of us...
Definitely grateful and happy he was there! And congrats to all who got to see it first hand--that must have been amazing. :)
