Tuesday news bulletin: Power Picks again, and a bit of deja vu...

This one's for you, Lise--thanks for the very sweet letter!A classic blast from the past, by request; Bucky Covington and Opry legend Little Jimmy Dickens backstage at the Grand Ole Opry, March 9th. Bucky Covington's debut CD is in stores now, and his music video is now available for online viewing at CMT.com and Yahoo Music. You can buy Bucky's album at Amazon, Best Buy , iTunes and Target, hear the full version of his single "A Different World" at CMT and GAC, preview his entire CD at Clear Channel Music, or enjoy samples of songs from the CD at Bucky's official MySpace. An autographed copy of Bucky Covington can be ordered while supplies last at his official site or via his official fan club. Photo courtesy Lyric Street Records.

Here's a very quick (and familiar sounding) sweep of the scene today:

CMT's Power Picks features Bucky's video for "A Different World" against a repeat challenger. (Deja vu, y'all.) The live video matchups begin today at 12 noon ET, and Bucky's challenge happens in the latter half of the show. Head to the Power Picks page in a few hours and get ready to cast your vote for Bucky again!

The album sales estimates for the week roll on at Hits Daily Double today, and the final estimates will be posted sometime this afternoon. The auto-updating fun begins at approximately 7:30 a.m. Pacific; at the close of the count yesterday, Bucky Covington was #24 on the all-genre Top 200 chart, with about 63% of the reporting retailers weighing in. (And as ogopogo points out on the Bucky Covington thread at the Fox boards, this is a week full of new releases, so he's holding his ground quite nicely.)

We're posting this too early for this morning's Mediabase charts; but Bucky's "A Different World" was sitting pretty at at #19 on both the weighted and Top 500 charts on Monday. Request Bucky at your local country station, and remember to ask for Bucky on your favorite syndicated country radio shows, too. Requests are especially important right now--a couple of huge country megastars are poised to pole-vault into the Top 20, and several mature hits are on their way to recurrent status. This should be a very exciting week or two on the singles charts, and Bucky could really use our support! (And of course, some video support at CMT's Pure Country Pure 12-Pack countdown and GAC's Top Twenty Country Countdown is always appreciated...)

As far as we know, Bucky, Rocky and the gang have the day off to enjoy themselves; the radio promo tour picks up again tomorrow with a show in Norfolk, Virginia sponsored by The Eagle 97.3/WGH. No word yet on whether or not he'll be doing an interview with the station, but they do feature streaming audio at their website--we'll let you know if we hear anything, and if you do, please leave a note in comments!

Finally, it looks as though that fun Twitter mini blog Bucky kept during his wild release week whirlwind tour might be back in business eventually--a text-message post yesterday read "More updates coming soon", which sounds pretty promising to us. You can bookmark Bucky's Twitter page to follow along, or add him as a friend and check out all your friends' updates right from your Twitter profile.

See you later today--have a good one!

  1. It was close, but Blake Shelton won today's Power Picks challenge with 52% of the vote. I'll post the next one as soon as it's announced!
