Sunday news: first photos from Zellwood, California calling, and more

Bucky Covington onstage at the Whiskey Roadhouse in Council Bluffs last month; photo by the very kind Rachel, who was on hand to enjoy the show. (Thanks so much, Rachel!) Bucky Covington's debut CD is in stores now, and his music video is available for online viewing at CMT.com and Yahoo Music. You can buy Bucky's album at Amazon, Best Buy , iTunes and Target, hear the full version of his single "A Different World" at CMT and GAC, or enjoy samples of songs from the CD at Bucky's official MySpace. An autographed copy of Bucky Covington can be ordered while supplies last at his official site or via his official fan club.

Sunday starts off in a lovely way with this great blog post and photo gallery from a generous concertgoer who shared her memories of yesterday's Zellwood Sweet Corn Festival show--looks like it was a stunningly pretty day for an outdoor gig, and the photos are absolutely beautiful. Major kudos to the photographer! (And as Kathy points out over at Team Covington today, Lisa/letusjudge of Buck Wild fame was at yesterday's event and will be sharing her images and memories, too. Lots to look forward to today!)

If you're looking forward to this evening's show at the Brandin' Iron Saloon in San Bernadino, CA, you've only got a few hours to go. Bucky, Rocky and the band take the stage at 8:30 Pacific tonight, and it's an all-ages affair--a perfect way to spend a pre-holiday Sunday evening. You can find all of Bucky's concert stops at the tour page on his official site; I'm thinkin' California is the place to be for the next few days...

Those of us who aren't lucky enough to enjoy Bucky performing live in the California sunshine this week can still see him on CMT Insider today at 10:30 a.m. ET, where he's featured talking about working with mentor/producer Mark Miller of Sawyer Brown on his chart-topping debut CD. CMT Insider will repeat at 2:00 a.m. late Sunday/early Monday, and 11:30 a.m. Monday morning (all times ET).

There's a bit of deja vu on the charts today for "A Different World"--yep, it's #16 on both the the Top 500 and weighted Mediabase charts as of the Sunday a.m. listings. However, there's a lot happening with several of the cuts on Bucky Covington this morning, if the YES.com real-time airplay monitoring is any indication--and it is. From a kind anon in comments:

It's been a very busy morning on YES with 3 songs getting LOTS of spins

"I'll Walk"
"Bible and the Belt"
"A Different World"

Hmmmm. The Yes.com artist page is still showing all three being played even as I type this post; today's afternoon Mediabase charts should be quite interesting, indeed. Stay tuned! (And please request "A Different World" at your favorite local and streaming country stations--that always makes the charts a little more beautiful.)

On the video charts, we're still thinking that a triple #1 would be sweet--and if you caught Bucky's intro to his video on this week's GAC Top Twenty Country Countdown, I'll bet you (and Bucky) are inclined to agree. "The video needs to be #1!" Give Bucky a boost at the GAC Top Twenty voting page and at CMT's Pure 12-Pack countdown, too. (The latter has been having technical difficulties; I thought it was my old PC until several other voters reported the same problem. Keep trying!) The CMT Top 20 Countdown doesn't take viewer votes, of course, but you can watch Bucky's video at CMT.com or say hi to his CMT fans on his message board there while you're waiting for next week's show...

Finally, an important repeat request from yours truly--we're still hearing some reports of fans not finding Bucky's CD on their local retail shelves. If you're having trouble picking up a copy--or if you'd like to help those who are--please call your favorite local store (Walmart, Target, Circuit City, Best Buy, K-Mart etc.) and ask them if they have Bucky's CD in stock. If they don't have it, please leave a comment here or email me (address in sidebar) with the store name and number, city and state, and I'll pass the data on to someone who has volunteered to help fix the problem. Huge thanks to everyone who has written so far--it's appreciated!

More very soon...enjoy your beautiful Sunday!

I heard from a pretty good source that "I'll Walk" will be Bucky's next single released to the radio stations.

not that my opinion matters worth crap but I definitely think the next single should be fast and rocking. My pick would be "Bible and the Belt". I think two slower songs released in a row does not really show who Bucky is. HE ROCKS MY COUNTRY! If not B & B then American Friday Nights or Its Good to Be Us or I'm Good. They are all great and hopping and will bring in those that are not into ballads.

I totally agree with you Bunny, I thought Bucky had said that Ill Walk was going to be the 3rd single. He never mentioned what the 2nd was to be. I thought it was going to be AFN. But I myself would prefer B&B.

I agree that Bucky's next release should be a faster/rockier tune! I'm Good or Empty Handed would be my pick.
Or, even Hometown over, I'll Walk. I'll Walk is too traditional/old school country. He's got to showcase his "rockier" (no pun intended) side now!

It also looks like YES ranking are a little off too. On mediabase Bucky is ranked #1 on atleast 5 stations. I only checked a few. Its nice to see in the top spot.

  12. Hello Anons, Buckyflowers, Bunny and Marzy!

Thanks so much for the "I'll Walk" and "Bible and the Belt" info and spins...very interesting! I am not sure exactly what all those spins mean just yet--anyone?

Buckyflowers, thank you for the Walmart info! It's a big help--people can't impulse-buy a CD they don't see, so with any luck, Bucky Covington will be back on the racks to delight some brand new buyers...

Bunny and Anons, I totally agree that the next single should be an uptempo, danceable song. "Bible and the Belt", "American Friday Night", "I'm Good"--he's got a lot to choose from on this album, and I'd love to watch him fill up the dance floors across the country with his rockin'-country side next single! But for now, I am still loving "A Different World", and looking forward to seeing it in the Top 10 soon. :) Love the #15 news--nice.

And Anon 2:34, keep the faith--I think Bucky's gonna get what he wants at GAC, I really do. Keep voting, and recruit some friends--he'll be on top before we know it!

  13. A religious show this morning was playing BBB from what I can tell. I didn't have time to see what was playig IW but I am sure it was syndicated with that many spins.. might even been the same show.

  14. Thanks, Debbie--I was wondering! (That's an interesting choice for a religious show, but I guess it fits if you really think about the theme...)

The stations this morning played "A Different World" then one or two other artists then Played "Ill Walk" couple other artists then "Bible and the Belt"
The song "Ill Walk" actually has a ranking at WKML. So they have played more than a few times.

  16. Yeah, I heard I'll Walk has been being played at WKML. But any radio station can play any song of the cd without it being a single so it is awesome they are playing it.. but that doesn't necessarily mean it will be the next single.
