Wednesday news: media day, Rockingham rocks and more...

A bit of recent media chat--Bucky Covington smiles at a Fox reporter's question at the Opryland hotel before his Opry debut on March 9th; photo courtesy of the very kind Sweettealove. (Thanks again!) Bucky's music video is now available for online viewing at CMT.com and Yahoo Music. You can pre-order Bucky's debut CD at Amazon, Best Buy and Target, hear the full version of his single "A Different World" at CMT and GAC, or enjoy samples of songs from the CD at Bucky's official MySpace. An autographed copy of Bucky Covington can be pre-ordered at his official site or via his official fan club.

Bucky's spending the day chatting with the media--he'll be doing interviews all day long, which means that there should be plenty of articles for us to enjoy as the countdown to his CD release on April 17th continues. And while we're waiting, there's some good news from his original hometown; Bucky's kind "Special Mother" reports that a billboard featuring news of Bucky's CD and upcoming Fayetteville in-store appearance has just been spotted in the area. She describes it at the AI boards; it's "HUGE", she says, with a photo of Bucky in a tan a leather jacket and black shirt, "See Bucky at Wal-Mart in Fayetteville on 4-20 at 9:30, 4601 Ramsey St." and the all-important "DEBUT CD IN STORES APRIL 17TH". (Looks like Bucky will be greeting the homestate fans before his donors-only, WKML-sponsored St. Jude's "Big Hearts Ball" concert with Dusty Drake later that day--if you'll be in town, stop in and say hello.)

Photo by Sherry/my4frogs--thank you so much for sharing this! Coolest billboard I've seen in a long, long time...Edited to add a link to photos of that very cool Bucky Covington billboard, courtesy of my4frogs--thanks so much to Sherry for sharing these great shots!

You'll have quite a few chances to enjoy Bucky right in your own living room this week, starting tomorrow at 4 p.m. ET, when he'll be chatting with Lance Smith on CMT's Top 20 Countdown. Both CMT and GAC have handy by-artist schedules on their repsective websites; here's the "Bucky Covington on CMT" page, and you'll find Bucky's GAC info on this search page.

In radio news, Bucky's looking good on the Mediabase charts at #26 with a bullet on the Top 500 and the weighted listings. I'll post the usual reminder to request "A Different World" on your local country station right about here, with an added note that if you're an XM or Sirius subscriber, you've got a powerful local station at your fingertips! Satellite radio could use some love too, so be sure to request Bucky while you're happily enjoying that commercial free clarity...

The last couple of weeks have been exceptionally busy for Bucky and his fans--concerts, TV appearances, radio spots and more--and if you've missed anything, the fabulous Bucky fans at Rawkhands will get you right up to date. Grab a cup of coffee, stop in and catch up soon!

Finally, if you're in the mood for some smiles, there's lots going on at Bucky's official street team. "Bucky Nation" is free to join; you can also sign up for the fan club and get an autographed CD and a limited-edition T shirt, among many other options. With April 17th less than two weeks away, there are many excellent promotional ideas--and much excitement--floating around Bucky's brand new official message boards. (You'll also find street team-only "points store" goodies like logo guitar picks and Bucky buttons such newly added to the mix, but even if you're not in the market for souvenirs, join anyway and share the fun of being an "active" Bucky Covington fan. Hey, after all those late nights dialing and voting last year, it's safe to say that "interactivity" thing has worked out pretty well for him--and for us--so far...)

We'll close with a little instant interactivity right now: you can give Bucky a hand with your vote for "A Different World" at the CMT Pure Country Pure 12-Pack video countdown and at GAC's Top Twenty Country Countdown voting page, and feel free to send an email to country@wkml.com requesting Bucky for WKML's "Top 5 at 6". If you like, you can listen to the WKML stream at 6 p.m. ET to see where he lands on the countdown.

More later today!
