Bucky Covington in a promo photo from a recent photoshoot; visit his MySpace to see more. Bucky's new music video is now available for online viewing at CMT.com and Yahoo Music. You can pre-order Bucky's debut CD at Amazon, Best Buy and Target, hear the full version of his single "A Different World" at CMT, or enjoy samples of songs from the CD at Bucky's official MySpace. An autographed copy of Bucky Covington can be pre-ordered at his official site or via his official fan club until April 11th.There's a new date set for Bucky's much-anticipated live "Driver's Ed" performance on XM Satellite Radio; he'll be on the air the week of 4/17, according to the schedule just posted on the Highway 16 home page. XM offers a free trial, as well as a very reasonable $7.99 per month subscription for online listeners. It'll be an event to remember, in the middle of a week to remember...
And speaking of live radio, Nashville's legendary WSM will stream (and archive) Saturday's Grand Ole Opry broadcast; Bucky and Alison Krauss, Taylor Swift, Emerson Drive, Mel Tillis, Mountain Heart, Jesse McReynolds and Mel McDaniel will perform. Those lucky enough to have GAC as part of their cable lineup can watch this show live on Saturday at 8 p.m. ET, with plenty of repeats all weekend long--check the show's page for airtimes, and get those DVRs ready to go.
If you're looking for a live performance of your own to attend, the Sunday offer from Joe's on Weed Street in Chicago just might still be valid. Bucky and Jason Michael Carroll will appear there on Friday, 4/13, and a couple of days ago, a notice appeared on Bucky's official MySpace offering a free pair of tickets to Chicago fans who wrote to welovejoesconcerts@ameritech.net with full name and mailing address. (No harm in asking if the offer still stands, is there?) If the freebie is over, never fear--tickets are still available at Joe's site and via Ticketmaster. And there's even more news about that particular show--you can now make a meet and greet request for the Joe's show through Bucky's fan club.
Flashing back for a moment, a short, sweet gallery from Bucky's K105 show in Youngstown has been posted at the station's site--only five photos, but they're fun!
And there's good news via the Bucky Covington fan thread at the Fox boards; his album is reviewed in the current issue of American Idol Magazine (on newsstands now) and it's a beauty. Daustin5673a kindly shared the rave, which includes this bit: "Fantastic. Stunning. Pick your word. Bucky offers a superb mixture of country and southern rock, ballads and more traditional stylings. His abilities as a lyricist and guitarist shine, and he brings a vocal depth, authenticity and versatility that exceed what we saw in Season 5." Sounds good to us...

Here's a follow-up to a post from last week; Bucky's "media day" full of interviews happens on the 4th, and two different posters at AI.com with media connections are looking for your questions for Bucky. If you're a member there, PM poetcindy1966 and the_mumbler with your very best ideas. (Edited to add yet another request for questions; Estella of StarCountryAngel is interviewing Bucky tomorrow too, and she'd like also like some help from his fans. You can leave a post with your ideas at her MySpace blog. Have fun! Thanks to Kimberly for the tip.)
We'll close for now with the daily voting reminders: give Bucky a hand at the CMT Pure Country Pure 12-Pack video countdown and at GAC's Top Twenty Country Countdown voting page, and send an email to country@wkml.com requesting "A Different World" for WKML's "Top 5 at 6". And most important of all, request "A Different World" at your local country station! This is a rollercoaster of a week on the charts--those requests could make all the difference as the days roll on. Feel free to pick up that phone!
(Edited to add a link to Team Covington where Kathy has some great news from GAC and retailer FYE--Bucky's CD now has a featured page, and the GAC online listening party includes full versions of "A Different World" and "American Friday Night". Hop over to Kathy's blog for all the details!)
More later...
April 17th is coming closer! Speaking of stations the other day, you just never know what to look at lol Country Aircheck's chart has him at 25. But they have him on 115 stations with 5 added. Its all so confusing lol
ReplyDeleteYou hit the nail on the head there, Kathy. The whole chart thing is confusing with a capital C! :)
ReplyDeleteCan you imagine...in two weeks from now we'll be peeling the annoying plastic off a brand new Bucky Covington CD? Life is goooooood. :)
I can hardly wait! Except for that evil shrink wrap lol Having heard that full version of AFN has really wet my appetite. Just goes to show we may think we've heard quite a bit, but the full versions way surpass those myspace clips!
ReplyDeleteTo me it is not the shrink wrap that is truly evil....it is that printed tape that goes over the one edge after you get the shrink wrap totally off. I spent so long trying to get that off my Bucky DVD the other day.
ReplyDeleteAnon 7:34, I totally agree with you! I can never seem to get it all off at once, and end up spending at least 5 minutes trying to get the rest off. I can't wait to have to be doing that to Bucky's cd though :D
ReplyDeleteKathy, I agree...so cool to hear the full version of the song. It's funny how catchy "American Friday Night" is after a few listenings--I've caught myself mindlessly humming that one. This CD really might yield a bunch of singles that do very well on radio.
ReplyDeleteAnd yes, the edge tape is diabolical! Anon and Anon, you know they must have gotten together at some lab and said "how can we invent the stickest plastic tape ever, and make sure it only comes off a CD case in little tiny strips that stick to the fingers?"
If only they'd used that brainpower on global warming or something... ;)
(But yes, it'll be a joy to fight that stuff in order to get to a Bucky Covington CD inside.)
The whole format of this Highway 16 Diver's Ed show is so cool. I just listened to the JMC one...it will be so cool to have the Bucky on it. I just like the whole concept of the show. I am so glad Bucky was invited to do this show! :D Way cool! (I am joking about the over use of "cool" because in about every interview Jason does he says it about 25 times..heehee...and he did on this show as well. haha) BTW I really love Jason's new single "Livin' Our Love Song" so catch one of the other times for this week's episode if ya can for he sings it live on this show...and be sure not to miss the Bucky's episode. :D I am sure it will be the coolest of the cool! ;)
ReplyDeleteOh and I hope Bucky listens to this week's episode too...JMC talks about how fun it was to visit my city on his radio tour. Take the hint Bucky/Bucky's peeps...schedule something for here asap! That is an order! ;) hahaha
