Bucky Covington's debut CD will be in stores April 17th; visit his official site for a full track listing and much more info. Bucky's new music video is now available for online viewing at CMT.com and Yahoo Music. You can pre-order Bucky's CD at Amazon, Best Buy and Target, hear the full version of his single "A Different World" at CMT, or enjoy samples of four songs from the CD at Bucky's official MySpace. An autographed copy of Bucky Covington can be pre-ordered at his official site or via his official fan club.Remember what we said a while back about signing up for those radio station Loyal Listener mailing lists--even if it's a station you mainly listen to online? Here's a good example of why it's a great idea--a friend just shared a link to this exclusive set of video interviews from WFMS 95.5 in Indianapolis, featuring a conversation with Bucky and Mark Miller (along with some very encouraging statements from TPTB at Lyric Street Records, and some awesome in-studio footage you won't want to miss.)
Be a listener, y'all! Sign up for those radio station newsletters, and keep an eye on your inbox--excellent news about Bucky could be just a click away. (Mega thanks to the very kind BuckyCrazed for sharing.)
And here's a fun bit of news via WKRN's Steph in the City entertainment blog--Bucky, Kellie Pickler and Ace Young spent yesterday evening bowling together in Nashville. (Sounds like a fun way to wind the weekend down!)
Other than that, it's a fairly quiet news day so far--for us, anyway. Bucky's USAToday diary reveals that things won't be so quiet for him this week! Today, he's taping his CMT Top 20 Countdown appearance (airs Thursday, 4/5--check the show's page for repeat airtimes), and tomorrow, he'll be at the GAC studios, taping several shows that'll be broadcast over the next few days. Add a "media day" of interviews, two days on the road and the Grand Ole Opry show on Saturday night (airing live on GAC) and you've got one incredibly full plate.
All of this is leading up to one thing, of course--the release of that long-awaited debut CD on April 17th. With the big event only two weeks away, it sure is sounding like both Bucky and his fans might be experiencing a few of those pre-release butterflies in the general vicinity of the tummy area. And that, my friends, is a good thing.
Let's face it...this is a pretty exciting time! Watching "A Different World" rise from its low-50s debut to its current twenty-something spot on the notoriously slow-moving country charts has been a nail-biting exercise--especially when the occasional bump in the road happens, as it did this morning. But it's also been an amazing rush--and between the steam the single picked up last week and Bucky's busy media schedule this week, look for the chart-watching to get even wilder as the days go by.

One great way to work off that nervous/excited energy is to vote and request--sure, the future is unknown, but every phone call and email helps to boost Bucky's single and upcoming CD that much more. The official street team, Bucky Nation, is free to join and an excellent way to get very specific information on how to help Bucky's voice tickle lots of receptive ears--and there's a forum full of fun to sweeten the deal. (Want to vote right now? I'm happy to make it easy for you. Hop over to the CMT Pure Country Pure 12-Pack video countdown and GAC's Top Twenty Country Countdown voting pages and give Bucky a boost, then send an email to country@wkml.com and suggest "A Different World" for WKML's "Top 5 at 6". And a call to your local country radio station requesting Bucky is a surprisingly effective mood-booster, too... )
And finally--between the Mediabase this and the video voting that and the radio station whatever, it's possible to lose sight of the main thing--and the main thing is the music, and the joy it brings. Bucky, his team and his band have put together a fantastic album and an amazing live show--awesome songs full of heart, sung by that beautiful, distinctive, honest authentic voice that caught our ears and made us solid fans way back when this upcoming CD was only a distant dream.
So if you're still feeling anxious after you've done all you can--voted, requested, emailed, posted--take a moment and a deep breath, then put on your best headphones, cue up your favorite Bucky Covington song and listen. Listen, relax, and enjoy the sweet feeling of knowing that all this time, you've been helping to make a talented, deserving artist's dream come true-and that the best is yet to come.
It really is good to be us, y'all.
More very soon!
Winnie-just watched that video. It was great! Thanks for the link!
ReplyDeleteHi, Icyfire! BuckyCrazed is the one who deserves the real thanks--she was very kind to pass that link along. Bucky and Mark were delightful as always, and it was really interesting to hear what the Lyric Street executives had to say, wasn't it?
ReplyDeleteSome personal perspective for those experiencing pre-release jitters. Today is the first day of the jewish holiday Passover and I am at home cooking chicken soup and flourless chocolate cake in preparation for tonight's sedar. Last year this event occured on April 12th. I know it was results night on Idol after Queen week and I told myself I wasn't going to let it ruin a beautiful dinner with friends and family, but in the interval before dessert, i couldn't stand it anymore and I asked to go in another room and catch the last 10 minutes of the show. Of course that was the night Bucky got voted off. I felt sick to my stomach because I thought that the chances of an 8th place finisher having a career post idol were pretty slim.
ReplyDeleteTonight as I get ready for another sedar I am just amazed at all the good things that have happened since last Passover and the best of all is that in just two weeks I will have a Bucky Covington CD filled with 11 great songs sung by a truly unique country artist. As Winnie says, it is good to be us!
Hi Winnie! Thanks so much for everything you do. Today's promo video was great!
ReplyDeleteI've been really excited about the cd, but just realized that I don't even know if it is being released in Canada. Maybe one of your other Canadian readers will see this comment and know the answer to my question :).
If all else fails, I can always order it as an import from Amazon, but I'd really like to go down to my local cd store and pick it up!!
Im in Canada also, I pre ordered mine, only because I have yet to see an idol cd show up in the stores on their release day. Better safe than sorry!!
ReplyDelete~m~
WOW...two Canadian fans in a row...and I was just talking to a UK Bucky fan...COOL!
ReplyDeleteHello Beesims, amac and Anons--
ReplyDeleteBeesims, what a lovely way to sum up the past year. It's really incredible to contrast the feelings we were all dealing with a year ago with the nervous enthusiasm we're experiencing today! Your memories really do put it in perspective, and thanks for posting them...
Amac, my pleasure--BuckyCrazed is the real video heroine today! I see that Marzy's got part of your question covered--here's hoping that we get some confirmation on an official Canadian CD release soon. Bucky's got quite a number of fans above the 49th parallel, and it would be great if you could just pick it up at retail whenever you like.
And Anon, hello to you and to your Bucky-fan friend in the UK--he's definitely going to have to do a world tour sometime!
She asked him about that in her question to Bucky via Lance. :)
ReplyDeleteWinnie--this last post was fantastic...what a year it has been!! Only 2 more weeks and we will all be rockin' to Bucky!!
ReplyDeleteIcyfire, you're very kind! And wow...it's really wild to think of how soon we'll be enjoying that CD in real life, after a year of waiting and hoping.
ReplyDeleteCounting down the days! :)
