Friday news: Bucky rocks Jimmy Kimmel Live, Big Hearts Bash, attention Wal-Mart shoppers and more...

Bucky Covington's debut CD is in stores now, and his music video is now available for online viewing at CMT.com and Yahoo Music. You can buy Bucky's album at Amazon, Best Buy , iTunes and Target, hear the full version of his single "A Different World" at CMT and GAC, preview his entire CD at Clear Channel Music, or enjoy samples of songs from the CD at Bucky's official MySpace. An autographed copy of Bucky Covington can be pre-ordered while supplies last at his official site or via his official fan club.

Edited to add a link to fresh new eye candy at the Bucky Truck Stop at Rawkhands (thanks, Sunscreen!) and a just-posted podcast at WQDR, featuring Bucky's interview from earlier this week. (Thanks, Anon.) Enjoy!--Winnie

One of the biggest stories of the day actually happened at about one o'clock this morning--Bucky's Jimmy Kimmel Live performance was an amazingly high-energy musical delight. Bucky performed "Empty Handed" and "Back When We Were Gods" from his brand-new debut CD (hear the whole album at Clear Channel Music and CMT.com), and for those of us who've seen him in concert, the show was a sweet reminder of the joy of Bucky Covington, live. If you haven't had the pleasure of seeing Bucky in concert, click here for a list of upcoming tour dates--you'll definitely want to be there when he comes to your town...

The official Jimmy Kimmel Show site features a "Pontiac Garage" section with streaming video of live musical performances; Bucky's mini-concert, including the un-aired portions, will be posted on the site very soon. Keep checking back, and enjoy!

Bucky flew a red-eye from L.A. to his home state of North Carolina for tonight's Big Hearts Bash in Fayetteville, sponsored by WKML. The show is a private performance for St. Jude's donors, but if you don't have a ticket, don't worry--you'll still be able to say hello to Bucky at the Wal-Mart Supercenter (4601 Ramsey Street) , where he'll be signing copies of his CD after the show. The Fayetteville Observer caught up with Bucky earlier this week, and he had some interesting things to say about his new life in Nashville and his life on the road...

Today's charts aren't posted as of this writing, but we'll link to the Mediabase Top 500 and weighted charts right now--here's hoping that the news you wake up to is better than ever!

We'll close for now with today's voting links; remember to vote for Bucky at CMT's Pure Country Pure 12-Pack video countdown and at GAC's Top Twenty Country Countdown today. And a request for "A Different World" at WKML might be a nice way to celebrate Bucky's return to his home state--write them at country@wkml.com, remember to put "Top 5 at 6" in the subject line, and ask for Bucky's single. And as always, be sure to request Bucky at your local country station, too.

More later today!

  4. I just watched Kimmel. Wow! Darned DVR shut off in the middle right after he started BWWWG. But I'll catch it on the website later:) So glad we got to see the band too! Rocky looked great. Wonder how come Hobie was still on keys?

  5. Hi, Kathy and Dina!

Kathy, grrrrr at the DVR shutting off...how frustrating! But it's good to know that the videos will eventually be online. Rocky was awesome! And I loved the whole concert setup--very nice. Good question about Hobie. I wonder, too...

And hey there, Dina! Glad you caught the Jimmy Kimmel show last night--Bucky is definitely a treat live. Hope you'll finally make it out to one of the concerts this summer! ;)

Ralph Novak reviewed Bucky in this issue of People..1 1/2 stars out of 4...liked "Ain't No Thing" and "Bible and the Belt" but called AFN and BWWWG "redneck posturing".....I hope all the rednecks in American rise up and buy this album after been put down by this elitest snob.

  7. Anyone notice Rocky's shirt? Nice to see they still share clothes lol So Cute.

Yes, Rocky looked hot last night!

Redneck posturing? Sounds like someone's jealous that they didn't have that much fun in their youth. We were bound to see a couple negative reviews, too bad it was for People though.

Hey...did any of you flip through the new Country Weekly that I think came out new today? I was just wondering if there was any Bucky in it. :) Thanks

  10. Hi,Buckyflowers! Sure, it would have been great to get a good review in People, but if it's any consolation, many hardcore music fans give People less weight than its competitors when it comes to reviews of pop, rock or country music. They were apparently notorious for saying all sorts of dire things about R.E.M.'s slim chances of making it in the music scene back in the 80s. (R.E.M., of course, went on to score a 20-plus year career and have just been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.) So...no offense to the People reviewer, but Bucky might have the last laugh in 2027. :)

And the elitism has to go. The snobbery and condescension that Bucky and his fans have had to endure from some corners of the press is a huge, huge pet peeve of mine, but I'll spare you my rant...

Ah well--a few clunker reviews don't change the fact that it's an excellent album ,and the response has generally been very positive from the critics and the fans. Bucky can be proud of this CD, for sure!

Kathy, I noticed Rocky's shirt--it was great to see them on stage together (first time for me) and I thought it was cool that they still swap clothes. (My sister and I have been known to "borrow" things back and forth, so I can relate!)

  11. Hello again, Anon--nope, still haven't gotten to see Country Weekly --sold out near me. I hope someone can help you with the answer to that question today!

    Hi,
KathyG, - I noticed the shirt, too - I loved that
shirt on Bucky, it remainds me of early AI
shoots - it was fun to see it on Rocky. - Or maybe they each have their own?
I was so happy they did Empty Handed - its one of my
favorite songs on the album - so rocking!
And on the flak from music snobs, Winnie,
I sure have them around me. "You like WHO!? "
But I think theyre just missing out on the
fun, and being closed-minded. Too bad for them!! Lol
    Have a great day,
    Chan

I thought that shirt looked familiar! Winnie do you know if they have put Bucky's performance up on Kimmel's website yet? I have looked a couple of times, but I may have missed it! Thanks...and thanks for the links to all the cool Bucky stuff!!
