Friday morning news: goin' to Kansas City, chart updates and more...

This photo's got a fan club all its own! By multiple requests, here's Bucky Covington in a brand-new promo photo from a recent photoshoot; visit his MySpace to see more. Bucky's new music video is now available for online viewing at CMT.com and Yahoo Music. You can pre-order Bucky's debut CD at Amazon, Best Buy and Target, hear the full version of his single "A Different World" at CMT, or enjoy samples of four songs from the CD at Bucky's official MySpace. An autographed copy of Bucky Covington can be pre-ordered at his official site or via his official fan club.

Been wondering how Bucky's single "A Different World" is faring on the charts? Wonder no more--it's been a wild week with lots of fluctuations (and new releases by two country superstars pole-vaulted over everything mid-chart), but the song is holding it's own-- it's currently ranked at #31 on the Mediabase Top 500 and #33 on the weighted chart, with that beautiful bullet firmly in place. If you'd like to see it jump higher soon, be sure to request Bucky at your favorite local country station. There's a long post here about why our calls and emails are vital, even if the station doesn't have Bucky on the playlist just yet--and if "A Different World" is a new addition to the airwaves where you live, it's just as important to send some positive feedback.

I know--it's been no fun watching the superstars freeze the chart for the last few days. But so many signs--Bucky's debut on this week's CMT Top 20 Countdown, the positive response to his Regis and Kelly performance Wednesday morning (welcome to all our new readers) a healthy bump in Amazon pre-orders, and the persistence of that bullet--point to a far more exciting week ahead for us all. Keep requesting, keep voting, and keep watching! (And to help even more, join Bucky's official street team--it's free, and the forums are a fantastic place to share ideas with others who'd like to see Bucky movin' on up, too...)

Those of us in the market for some live Bucky Covington music have some good news to celebrate; Bucky will be part of the May 19th WYCD Hoedown in Detroit, according to the station's site. You can read Bucky's WYCD bio here. (Huge thanks to BuckyFaninMI for the info.)

And here's a mystery date--it's not listed on Bucky's official tour page, but as of this post, CMT.com, Eventful and Billboard.com all have Bucky listed as playing the Beaumont Club in Kansas City on 3/30. Turns out that's the big Q104 Birthday Bash--and you've got to win your ticket. (Kansas City listeners, turn your radio's volume up to 11 and grab some of those seats...we want some Bucky Covington fans in the house!) The station's site also has this information about a "Q 104 Acoustic Cantina" that morning:

Where: McCoy's in Westport
When: Friday, March 30th! Begins at 11:00am!
Lunch specials!
Q104 broadcasts live to get ready for Birthday Bash with some very special guests!
Open to the Public!

TIMES ARE TENTATIVE AND ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE!
11:30 Drew Davis Band
12:00 Halfway to Hazard
12:45 Billy Currington
1:15 Randy Rogers Band
2:00 Bucky Covington
2:45 Emerson Drive

The best news for us out of towners is that this station streams. We'll post a reminder and more information closer to the show date, of course, but this sure sounds like a must-go for Bucky's Kansas City fans. Have fun, and good luck with the ticket contest..hope you're there for what will definitely be an incredible night!

As for some past incredible nights and days, a few sweet memories from Bucky's and Rocky's Florida trip are popping up online; WQYK has posted a big photo album from Thursday morning's Cletus T. Party, and some of those shots are sure to make you smile. Lisa/letusjudge of Buck Wild fame was there to greet Bucky in Lakeland, and she's hoping to update her beautiful site with some photos and other souvenirs soon--be sure to check back! The brilliant Bucky fans at Rawkhands will no doubt have lots of great memories posted by the time you read these words. And of course, the brand new forums at Bucky's official site (registration required) will be full of details about the Covington Brothers' Florida adventure.

Finally (whew!) our daily reminders: be sure to give "A Different World" a round of applause by voting for the video at the CMT Pure Country Pure 12-Pack video countdown page, and on GAC's Top Twenty Country Countdown; tune in to on CMT's Power Picks at 3 p.m. ET and keep that voting screen open in case a familiar smiling face pops up; and zap an email to country@wkml.com to request Bucky for this evening's the WKML "Top 5 at 6", then listen to the stream at 6 p.m. ET to see where he lands on the countdown. (Oh, yes--Country Weekly's "Country's Sexiest Man" poll is accepting write-in candidates for that non-musical but amusing title; one vote per email address, and the poll ends 4/9, just in case you had anyone in mind...)

Edited to add: Yep, there's another show! Here's the word from Toledo, Ohio's K100: "Bucky Covington, one of last year’s American Idol success stories, has launched his country music career. He’ll stop in Toledo at Shawn’s Irish Tavern, located in the Colonel Village Shopping Center on Heatherdowns at Key, on Thursday, March 29. Listen to K100’s Amy Davis to win free VIP tickets for the show, or come to the K100 studio at 3225 Arlington Avenue in Toledo during regular business hours and get your free general admission passes while they last. Doors open at 5 p.m. Don’t miss Bucky’s debut in Toledo, from Toledo’s Concert Connection, K100!"

Congratulations, Toledo fans--have a blast out there! (Thanks so much to Becky for the tip.)

More soon...

WHEW!! Lots happening for Bucky. Thank you so much for the encouragement and explanation for the chart numbers...one can easily get obsessive and disheartened by their wild fluctuations.

  2. Thank you, and my pleasure! It really is good to look at the big picture when it comes to the charts--especially country charts, which have a diferent pace than pop and AC charts.

Bucky's schedule is amazingly busy--I am impressed. Looks like he'll be just about everywhere this spring and summer!
