First reviews...

The music press got advance copies of Bucky Covington last week (some writers have all the luck!), and reviews of Bucky's debut CD will be popping up online and in print as the countdown to April 17th goes on. Rich Kienzle, author of Southwest Shuffle, weighs in on Bucky's album in his editorial review for Amazon.com, and USAToday's Ken Barnes recently mentioned that he had his copy of the CD in hand--look for a review on his Idol Chatter blog soon.

Over at Team Covington, Kathy's got some excellent background on this very positive review from Gone Country Magazine; writer Jeffrey Kurtis had great things to say about Bucky's four-song preview a few weeks ago, and his take on the whole CD is a joy to read. ("Bucky Covington has put out what will be the hottest album of the spring," he writes--doesn't get much better than that!) Head over to Kathy's beautiful blog for information about an upcoming interview and a shot of Bucky on the magazine's cover. (Big thanks to the_mumbler for the update.)

More news soon!

I think Bucky dropped 3 spots on Bob Kingsley top 40. He was 30 last week and I believe he is 33 this week. Can anyone confirm this??

  3. Icyfire, wasn't that fun to read? I am so excited about us finally hearing Bucky's CD...we're almost there!

Anon, hello again and thanks for bearing with yet another of my long answers! I don't know for sure about Kingsley, but I am pretty sure that the syndicated countdowns are about a week (or two? Someone else out there probably has better info) behind the current Mediabase charts. You'll remember that when Brad Paisley and George Strait released their singles, they pole vaulted right into the Top 30, pushing everything below down a notch or two--so if the single is lower on the present Kingsley chart than the last one, that's probably why. (I haven't heard this week's show and can't confirm which spot "A Different World" is occupying, unfortunately.)

However, the Mediabase charts (which are updated constantly and are as current as can be) reflect the song's real and present direction on the charts, and that direction is up! Bucky's single is still carrying the bullet signifying forward progress, and it crossed the Top 30 line and is headed into the mid-twenties now.

Finally and most importantly, radio goes by the current Mediabase charts. So even if the rumors are true and it got bumped a couple of spots on the Kingsley list by the superstars (and Bucky wasn't the only new artist affected by that), don't worry--it's temporary.

Hope the info helps, and thanks again!

Hey...how they capture the numbers varies from countdown to countdown....but looking at the big picture....the Bucky has never lost his bullet once on the chart that matters...mediabase...meaning that his spins have gone up day after day....so all is going great and best not to worry about every little detail. All is going very well for Bucky and all that needs to be celebrated! AND ONLY 17 DAYS UNTIL THE BIG DAY...WOO HOO! :D ---SS
