Full post soon--but as I type these words, I'm listening to Bucky sing "A Different World" on American Country Countdown after a very cool introduction by Kix Brooks. I won't ruin it for you. Let's just say that if you, like me, are as much--or more--interested in Bucky, the musician and performer as Bucky, the former Idol...well, we couldn't have asked for a better lead-in. The show's writers offered a taste of Bucky's musical history, putting the past few years in context in the space of a few words. Kudos to them!
More info on the ACC Top 40 intro: The lead in mentioned that Bucky started performing at the age of 19 and played in local bands including Southern Thunder, "but it was American Idol that put Bucky Covington on millions of TV sets, and helped him get his record deal, too. Sound familiar? Well, actually, he's a little different. You know, he's got the honky-tonks in bars and more TV cameras than can a career's worth of award shows. I'll tell ya, Idol's a tough training ground, y'all, I don't care who you are. I'd say this guy's probably ready. Well, now he debuts with his first single at number 37. This one's called 'A Different World'".
ACC Top 40 is also one of the few ways I have of hearing Bucky on my hometown country station--they haven't added him to the playlist yet. If your local station airs Kix Brooks' countdown, but isn't yet playing "A Different World", a quick note to let them know you heard it on the countdown and would love to hear it on the station might be a great way to start your Sunday. I'm off to write one to mine right now...
And a very fast couple of TV reminders--CMT Insider (with a brief but good segment on Bucky, filmed mostly on the set of a brand new photoshoot and in the recording studio) repeats at 11 a.m. ET today, and again at 1:30 am ET late Sunday/early Monday. GAC isn't showing any video airtimes for "A Different World" today, but you can start your Monday with the video at about 9:29 am ET.
More soon!
(Edited to add: A friend just wrote to say that Bucky has a short taped segment on this week's Crook & Chase Countdown; the show's official site doesn't seem to have a station finder, but a Google search may reveal a local or online streaming station with the show. Thanks!)
Don't miss Crook and Chase Countdown today peeps. They interview Bucky on it...and guess what...he is adorable. hahaha
ReplyDeleteNo offense, but if you want to be the best Bucky blog, put out facts, not teasers or "don't want to spoil the surprise." Where can fans who don't have much time go for the latest Bucky news? I always come here but it is a little frustrating.
ReplyDeleteI am so sorry, Anon--I appreciate the constructive citicism. I did mean to fill in the blank after ACC Top 40 had aired in most places and most people had had a chance to hear it--but things got hectic (still are) offline and on and I neglected to make the edit. Also, I've has some previous complaints about posting "spoilers" and ruining things for people in different time zones, so it's sometimes difficult to know which road to take.
ReplyDeleteAgain, I want to say that if you or anyone else have any questions, complaints or concerns about how the blog is run, or if I leave something hanging (it does happen), please feel free to write me at buckymaniablog@yahoo.com and I'll get on any additions/subtractions/spoilers/unspoilers/etc. as best I can.
If you come back a little later tonight, I'll try to transcibe the Kix Brooks info for you and I'll add it to the post.
Thanks again and my apologies.
buckymania!, I'm sorry that I was harsh. You work very hard at this blog and make alot of people happy so please don't apologize! I should be thanking you not criticizing.
ReplyDeleteNo worries, Anon! I really should have added more info about the ACC Top 40 intro a long time ago. It was too good not to share, and it did belong up front!
