Bucky and GAC's Neil Haislop sat down for a chat on the set of the video for "A Different World" a few weeks back; this well-done three-page interview is the result. Enjoy!
Edited at 4:15 ET: Bucky was interviewed on WAMZ in Louisville earlier today--he and Hobie and Shayne of Sawyer Brown performed "I'm Good" and "Hometown" before technical difficulties ended the segment rather abruply. There's a quick recap in the comments section.
More soon!
Okay--I'm going to do a little recap here, stream willing! Stay tuned...
ReplyDelete3:26: Bucky's on, talking with DJ about leaving the family body shop job to start a singing career. Story about first audition being delayed by Kartina and rescheduled Greensboro tryouts. "I don't mess with karma!"
Joking about parents of Idol auditioners--some parents should tell the kids they don't have a shot!
Most stressful part--"what's next." hard to have Hollywood/singing career handed to you then snatched away. Thnakful to Mark Miller...
Playing "I'm Good" live next with Hobie and Shayne. (Definitely still taking it easy on sore throat...raspy but still fun. Vocals way out in front.)
DJ likes lyrics--"I fall into the category of guys who drink/smoke/chew."
ReplyDeleteIdol tour--fast sellouts. Front row seats for $500--"I apologize!" Bucky says he wouldn't pay that. DJ says he knows a fan who bought tickets at a high price. "She's not gonna be a Jepoardy contestant," DJ jokes.
Pictured outdoor gigs in sunshine when he imagined doing concerts--Kentucky State Fair Idols show was outside, so that was his favorite. ("Once you've seen one arena, they all look the same.")
Back from break--30 million Idol viewers. Thanked fan from Brazil who wished him luck after he'd already been booted (show was delayed in Brazil.)
ReplyDeleteSinging "Hometown" now...
(Vocals still way out front but Hobie and Shayne are louder now--again, a bit raspy but good.)
DJ--"That's nice--this is a great song!"
ReplyDeleteMore about show--Simon "a great TV personality." So glad they never put the camera on him when Simon was being funny while cracking on people, because he couldn't help but laugh.
CRS--busy next week, which is a good thing. Mark: "Go with them only if they're excited about you." Compliments Lyric Street for support. Thanks DJ for help--DJ jokes "we're doing the best we can" then adds that Bucky's off to a great start.
("A Different World" was announced, but the stream is playing something else entirely, unless Bucky's voice has really changed! :)
(Okay, two non-Bucky songs and three PSAs and counting. Will Bucky be back? Is the station having technical difficulties?)
ReplyDeleteBack from break--music, and perhaps the tech difficulties finished this interview off without a goodbye! Yikes. More later, I hope...
Well cute interview but clearly something went whacky at the end. I bet they are all pushing buttons and what not as we speak. LOL Oh well....got two live songs in and some sweet Bucky chit-chat...so all good. :D
ReplyDeleteYep, something went loco! Hope they will at least say somethin' a little later. It was cute, though. Maybe Bucky can give that throat a rest now! :)
ReplyDeleteI caught the end of this interview. That was the first time I had heard "Hometown". I loved the lyrics! It sounded great!
ReplyDeleteI agree with you. "Hometown" is a beautiful song, and the way Bucky sings it is perfect--his rough voice goes so well with the sweet lyrics. They seem to have picked out some truly suitable tunes for his vocal style--bodes very well for the full CD...
ReplyDelete(I am WKML-streamless tonight...if anyone can hear the countdown, please let us know if it's on today and if so, where Bucky placed...hope he's back for good! Thanks... :)
ReplyDeleteThere is no countdown today or tomorrow for they are doing St. Jude's radiothon.....lots of mentions of Bucky and Dusty donating their talents for the big benefit concert thoough. Tickets are $250 with all funds going to St Jude's.
ReplyDeleteAlso Bucky's folks also called in a pledge a little while ago. They have lots of stories about little kids battling illness...DJ Larry started crying a few times. *hugs to Larry*
Typo...it is $240 not $250....but well worth every penny I am sure either way....and all for a good cause to boot. :)
ReplyDeleteThank you so much! Working on the evening post now and will link to the Radiothon info. Much appreciated!
ReplyDeleteI actually got to hear this interview today..... it was great! LOL!
