Edited at 7:21 a.m.: The morning crew at WCOL just mentioned that Bucky will be on during the 8 a.m. hour, and that he's bringing along a couple of band members--sounds like we're in for some "unplugged" music this morning! See comments for a quick recap.
Bucky's promo tour makes a stop in Columbus today, where he'll be interviewed on 92.3 WCOL this morning--no time given on the site, though, so we'll have to just cue up that stream and listen in. The official site also notes that Johnny DiLauretto of local Fox affiliate WTTE/Fox 28 will be on hand as well, so there could be some fun video on the way. This afternoon, Bucky will be in Indianapolis for an Idol viewing party sponsored by WFMS, and WXIN/Fox19 is planning a video segment on Bucky's visit.
Hey, while you're here, why not enjoy some random image links? Looks like there's a Crook and Chase segment in Bucky's future--that's definitely Bucky with Lorianne and Charlie in the studios of the Crook and Chase Countdown show. And on a winter's night, enjoy a bit of sunshine and summertime courtesy of Rocky Covington and a happy fan at Rockingham's National Night Out last August.
See you later today!
Hi Winnie!
ReplyDeleteJust checkin in and catching up..
love ya :)
Hey there, Tracy! How goes? :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a cute photo of him and Deanna. Listening in as Zach was up at the butt crack of dawn lol
ReplyDeleteHee--Zach must be feeling better! :)
ReplyDelete*:13--Bucky's in the house! Introductions: "Hey, we go back 5-10 minutes!" DJ asked about exciting times--it's sunk in? Bucky says yes and the great thing about the show is that Idols have fans before they even start recording. Bucky jokes about being Anna Nicole's baby's father. DJ says band is there, then break for PSA and commercials.
ReplyDelete8:17--We're back. Bucky describes getting deal with Lyric Street. Had to audition--came through Nashville during Idol tour and submitted demo with song called "Big Picture". Forgot what city he was in when Mark called to say he was signed. Been a "go-go" since then. "Turned me every which way but loose."
Coming off the show, people had questions about whether he'd do country or country-rock--thought people might be surprised that first single was true country. "Blessed" to have seasoned hitmakers offer songs.
("A Different World" now playing.)
8:23--Song ends, DJ compares high harmonies of song to Shenandoah--first time comparison? Yep--Bucky is a fan.
ReplyDeleteHobie and Shane from Sawyer Brown are there! DJ says Bucky stole two of Mark's bandmates--Bucky says he's "still working on the other two." Taking calls at 1 800 899 WCOL--news and weather now.
I love that whine in his voice on this song!
ReplyDeleteCalls in progress as PSAs end--Bucky is talking to Florida fan--she says he needs to come a little farther down. (It's Lisa/Judge of Buck Wild.) She mentions shows she's gone to. DJ says she must be a Top 10 fan!. :) DJ asks if thisis her first time listening to station. Lisa says yes and "I might listen to you again if you have Bucky back on!" Bucky says "I love you!"
ReplyDeleteColumbus fan who mentions her daughter is a huge fan but justleft for school. Had question but totally forgot it!
Richard--went to school with Bucky at Scotland High--lives in Ohio, fun to watch him. Class of '97 (Bucky was '96!) Wishes him luck, listen to station everyday.
Charles--question. "When you were growing up did you know you wanted to be a star?" Bucky thought he'd be at body shop. Fire truck analogy. "Wanting to do it and thinking you can do it are two different things."
Bucky has a sore throat--doing "I'm Good" live next.
(Cool unplugged arrangement of song--a little slowed down. Bucky's raspy but he sounds really good...)
Jared--caller. Says "I'm Good" should be a single--"I've heard so many great songs, and that one's awesome, my son's in the car with me, bobbing his head..." Invites Bucky back to Ohio any time. Bucky sounds genuinely pleased.
(Kathy, me too! This song is a great fit for his voice and even with the sore throat that sounded wonderful...)
ReplyDeleteyay Bucky picked my pick for Idol this year! That story about Hometown was cute.
ReplyDeleteCaller--Carol, loves Bucky. "I love you, too!" NASCAR race--told daughter "come see Bucky!" Talks NASCAR with fan, whi likes Jeff Gordon. Bucky jokes that he likes "whoever he has money on." Fan and DJ both note thathe has lots of fans in the area.
ReplyDeleteDJ asked about Rocky and twin trickery "you could be two places at one time". Bucky got whupped for something Rocky did--Rocky confessed. "Boy you should have seen it." Rocky's been supportive. Pretty much buying him a house.
One more song: "Hometown". (Excellent, even with sore throat.)
DJ says "that is nice!" Two songs named "Hometown" submitted--one "obviously was terrible" because Mark rejected it. Bucky lobbied for "Hometown" and Mark kept saying no day before they started recording he album, they recorded "Hometown" for Mark, and Mark realized they'd been talking about two different songs.)
DJ thanks Hobie and Shane and tells Bucky "you're better live than I though you would be!" Calls songs "riveting". Bucky says he's hoping to keep people off the seek button. DJ replies "so are we!". Bucky mentions "Between the Bible and the Belt" and DJ sounds intrigued.
Sound clip of Simon Cowell/Chris Sligh/Ryan Seacrest.
Lost stream here, but came back to discussion of judges--Simon doesn't like country, Randy Jackson is adept at all kinds of music. Bucky can't wait to hear the upcoming Travis Tritt album Randy has produced.
Bucky didn't spend much time with Simon so can't say what he's like off camera, But he can say that Simon "can't drive a five-speed worth a flip!" Offered funny sound effect of Simon leaving parking lot in his black Ferrari.
Bucky leaves show with words of wisdom: "If at first you don't succeed...skydiving's not for you." :D
I think you and Bucky have an excellnt pick, there! :)
ReplyDeleteThe "Hometown" story was a hoot--you could just imagine Mark Miller's face...hee.
Wow...another great interview. Bucky is a delight on these. And you can tell the DJs just loved him by the end. :)
ReplyDeleteI love "I'm Good" and "Hometown"...so great.
P.S. Yikes to OH weather..."frozen fog"...oh my! :O
So how long of a drive it from Columbus, OH to Indianapolis, IN?
ReplyDeleteSo how long of a drive it from Columbus, OH to Indianapolis, IN?
ReplyDeleteThat was fun, wasn't it? Loved the DJ telling Bucky they brought out the "Chamber of Commerce" weather especially for his visit. We do get some...er, "interesting" climate conditions out here in the winter!
ReplyDeleteOkay checked Mapquest...
ReplyDeleteColumbus, OH to Indianapolis, IN
Total Est. Time: 2 hours, 47 minutes
Total Est. Distance: 175.61 miles
Given the bad weather in OH and IN....I guess add an hour to that and start listening to the IN station...maybe he will be on there too even if it not listed...it has happened before with these viewing party days. :)
Yes, it has! :)
ReplyDeleteAnd that isn't too long a trip. Usually the fog burns off by late morning, and the temperature is moving up, so drivers, keep the faith! :)
Hey ya'll!! It's Laurie! this is my first comment! LOL! I so missed that interview. :(
ReplyDeleteAnd I love "i'm good" and I am so upset i missed him singing it! But I love Lisa and I am soooo happy she got on the show to talk to him! THats just cute. Maybe next time I can get up early enough to hear something. And something I find bad... I was 10yr. old when he was graduating high school... LOL!!
So I missed this also, thanks for the recaps. Who did Bucky (and Kathy, lol) pick as this season's Idol (as of now)?
ReplyDeleteHi Laurie, nice to meet you! Thanks for stopping in, and it's fun to think of the age range of Bucky's fans--he's got everything from toddlers to grandparents rockin' along!
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry that you and Anon missed this interview, but there's lots more to come. Here's hoping there's another acoustic version of "I'm Good" on the way--that one seems to be a hit even before the CD is here. Bucky (and Kathy) think Chris Sligh stands out! :)
Is Chris Sligh the one with the big hair? Cause i like him too. I think the girls this year are a lot better then the guys!
ReplyDeleteAnd for anyone else that doesn't know..... I am the same buckwild from BuckyCountry.com. I know Kathy.... and Winnie.... I e-mail u a lot... LOL! And I am almost 21.... so I am not 10 years old anymore... LOL!!!
