This will be our "countdown and challenge" thread for the day, starting with WKML's "Top 5 at 6"--will Bucky Covington's "A Different World" be the Number One requested song tonight? Listen to the online stream now, and stay tuned--we'll have the results for you here later this evening. Edited with results: Bucky was Number Three on the "Top 5 at 6" tonight. ("Alyssa Lies" was Number One.) A kind fan from Rockingham was the "guest DJ" who introduced "A Different World" this evening.
The next challenges are the "Battle of the New Songs" matchup on 98.1 Cat Country in Providence and the competition at Kix 106 in Memphis. If you're in the Providence area, tune in or listen online at 7:00 ET to hear "A Different World" battle it out with another new tune on 98.1 Cat Country, then cast your vote for Bucky. The Memphis battle begins at 6 CST. Both stations offer streaming audio. I won't be able to hear either of these, unfortunately--if you can enjoy the shows, please feel free to add the results in comments, and I'll post them here when the battle is over. Thanks and have fun! (Edited to add results--"A Different World" fought the good fight but came in second tonight in Providence and Memphis--however, there's good news from the latter city--Bucky will be on tomorrow's Young and Elder morning show on KIX 106. Details coming soon...)
Edited at 7:52 ET to add the challenge at 97.3 the Eagle in Virginia Beach tonight! Correction: looks like this one starts about 9:15 ET--this station streams, so listen for details on how to vote for "A Different World". (Just got word at about 10:15 that "A Different World" was the winner in Virginia Beach. Congratulations!)
Edited at 9:00 ET: Bucky's single is featured on the "Make it or Break It" segment at WXTU in Philadelphia tonight--you can listen live at the site. Enjoy! (Yep, Bucky won again! Here's to the Philly fans--thanks!)
More news and a look at tomorrow's interviews coming up in the next post...
No stream for me so far tonight. (I know, so what else is new!) I'll keep trying--until then, if anyone can hear the station tonight, feel free to share the results. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteOkay, now I have a stream! :) "Me and God" by Josh Turner is currently playing--number 4!
ReplyDeleteBucky's at Number Three tonight...a lady from Rockingham did guest DJ honors.
ReplyDeleteDrat I love my Brad but don't beat my Bucky!
ReplyDeleteI know! This is a lovely song--in the Number Two spot. Oh, well--there's always tomorrow. I think that Opry news sort of trumped everything this afternoon! :D
ReplyDeleteSo Opry???? you going?
ReplyDeleteNeed to figure out how to juggle everything and afford it all, but yes--I think that's a must! How about you?
ReplyDeleteI'm up for sharing hotel rooms to save money ;-)
ReplyDeleteAs a lesson to multitaskers, don't buy tickets online and talk on the phone at work at the same time. I ended up buying a ticket for March 6th!! 6 and 9 look too alike to my aging eyes.
Oh no! Whoops--maybe you can make it an early weekend and see both shows?
ReplyDeleteSharing hotel rooms is a great idea--I'm up for that. Definitely a once in a lifetime experience...
(And if you're still wondering, yes, I am still a tiny bit emotional. The Opry. Oh, my goodness...)
Bucky has stiff competition on the Memphis contest right now. He is up against Rascal Flatts!
ReplyDeleteI'm gonna try! But I will have to wait a bit to get my tickets to make sure Ira can get it off. He can request it though and they most likely will.
ReplyDeleteKathy, I so hope you and Ira can be there!
ReplyDeleteRascal Flatts? Oh my...that's going to be interesting!
Any updates on the Memphis competition? Bucky will go for win #4 tomorrow night in Va. Beach/Norfolk.
ReplyDeleteBucky lost to Rascal Flatts in the WGKX Memphis contest. There wasn't much chance for a new singer like Bucky to beat such a popular band. There is good news though...they said Bucky will be on the Young & Elder morning show tomorrow!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the Memphis update! At least it was a friendly rivalry with a labelmate. :) Did they give a time for Bucky's Young and Elder spot? There's another radio interview tomorrow at 6 Central or so--just wanted to make sure people could hear both if possible...
ReplyDeleteAn artist can go five nights in a row until they are retired to the Dog Fight Hall of Fame on Eagle 97. So that means we have 2 more nights of voting at that station.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Bren--I will put up a reminder post for the Eagle tomorrow evening. It would be great to have Bucky's single take it all!
ReplyDeleteUnfortunatley, Kix 106 did not say what time Bucky will be on the Young & Elder show. They just said he would be on the show tomorrow morning discussing his new cd. They do put up celebrity interviews on youngandelder.com, so if we miss it maybe we can hear it there eventually. They put Kellie Pickler's interview on their website.
ReplyDeleteHi, Anon! Thanks for the update on the Young and Elder show--I guess we'll just have to put on an extra pot of coffee and hang in there until Bucky's on...
