Very quick update, 1/14

Bucky Covington signing autographs at yesterday's Speed and Sound event in Nashville; photo by the very kind Leaf73. Be sure to check out Team Covington for more of Leaf's photos and great coverage of Saturday's happening. There's a Speed and Sound thread at the Fox boards, as well. Thanks, Leaf and Kathy!

Here's a quick look at what's happening today:

Bucky's first single, "A Different World" will be officially released on Tuesday; but unofficially, it's already creating a healthy pre-release buzz on country radio. Bucky's on Mediabase's Jump Chart for the week, moving up 75 notches in seven days, with 39 stations (and counting) on board. Looking good!

(And if you haven't yet heard what the buzz is all about, be sure to check out Bucky's official MySpace profile; clips from four of the tracks on his upcoming CD, including "A Different World", are available for your listening pleasure. Enjoy!)

A recent interview with Bucky is posted this morning at the Chattanoga Times Free Press; in it, Bucky speaks about his Idol audition experience, gives a bit of advice to aspiring contestants, and reveals a little about his and Rocky's future plans.

There's a lot of pre-Season Six newspaper coverage today, actually; this article from the New York Post offers a revealing look at the living arrangements for Idol contestants past and present, and Bucky reveals that the guys' rooms last season sometimes became a wee bit messy. ("Thank God you can't smell through TV.") Over at the Dallas-Fort Worth Telegram, a "where are they now" roundup features this blurb:

Bucky Covington

Label: Lyric Street Records in Nashville. His first single, A Different World, will hit country radio on Tuesday, the day the new A.I. season launches.

Appearances: Everyone does an American Idol tour of some sort, but Bucky did a more major tour late last year: He was part of the GAC Country Music Christmas Tour (with the likes of Deana Carter and Julie Roberts). Granted, he was taking the place of Nashville Star winner Buddy Jewell, who broke his wrist, but still.

National anthem: Not so much.

(The article also lists Elliott Yamin's label as Sony, with an album due early this year--we're hoping for some confirmation on that "is he or isn't he" signing very soon...)

Back with a bit of radio news later today--have a beautiful morning!

  1. Great articles! Love both of them. Glad to see Bucky getting so much more coverage and respect than he used to. Interesting to read all the behind the scenes stuff. But yes Season 5 was so different form earlier seasons. Even in season 4 I never could have imagined 8 out of the top 10 being signed. 2 more days!!!!

  2. You and me both--it's a welcome change, isn't it?

Season 5 had so many truly interesting and talented people that it'll be a tough act to follow--and I am going to predict right now that the 8 out of 10 record won't be broken for a while.

Can you believe how time flies? Wow!

  5. I am so excited for Elliott! I still think no male in Idol will ever top E vocally on his Moody's mood for love performance. Yes Winnie i agree.. don't think we will see the 8 out of 10 again. I think there may be and every 3 years curse on idol lol Season 3 was boring. No one could touch Fantasia.. you knew she would win just blah... and Season 5 will sure be a hard act to follow. Feel kinda bad for this year's kids. I found my idol though!

Just wanted to chime in and agree with Kathy that it is so great to see Bucky being treated with so much more respect and getting so much more coverage now. I really enjoyed the articles! Laurianne
