Quick update (and another tech toy!) 1/22

Bucky Covington breaks out a dance move on stage in Weldon, NC with the GAC Christmas tour in late December; photo by the very kind BluIsDixieGurl. Please click the image to enjoy more of Blu's beautiful photos.

First, a bit of radio news--as of early this morning, Bucky Covington's "A Different World" continued its steady climb on Mediabase's airplay charts, coming in at 47 on both the weighted "year" chart and the Top 500. (And if you're new around these parts and haven't heard the tune for yourself, you're in luck; CMT's "Single Listening Party" is still in full swing on Bucky's artist page there.)

Big, big kudos to dbrosch for this fun find--here's an easy way to make a request at your favorite local or online streaming station and to be notified when "A Different World"--or any of your most beloved songs--are on the air. It's called an "e-Quest alert", and it looks pretty handy, indeed. Sign up at your chosen stations' web sites, and they will send you an email or text message you when your songs play. (And yes, this still counts as a request. It's just a cool, high-tech way of going about it--and the best way yet of avoiding the "oh man, I just missed Bucky!" blues.)

To find out if your country station offers e-Quest alerts, visit their website (the link will usually be right up front), or Google "e-Quest alert" and your city to see what pops up. And if your local station doesn't offer this service yet, your favorite streaming stations might--so sign up, request, and watch those emails. You'll know in advance when Bucky will be singing through your speakers! (I'll try this out today, and I'll report back to let you know how it worked...)

Finally, Bucky got a mention in Hazel Smith's "Hot Dish" column over at CMT today. Granted, it's a very brief one--in her "Country Music Questions for the New Year", she asks "
Will Bucky Covington take root and grow?"--but it's a significant one, for all its brevity. Mrs. Smith's eye for talent is legendary, to say the least, and she's been quietly keeping an eye on Bucky for a little while now. (And of course, we're all hoping he takes root in the music world, grows--and flourishes...)

And as always, be sure to get your requests in at country@wkml.com for tonight's "Top 5 at 6" on WKML in Fayetteville. A nice Number One spot would be a graceful way to ease into the week...

More soon!

That e-quest thing is cool. My city is not signed up yet but maybe it will really catch on. In googling for my city, I also found this little article on the rationale for it...interesting:

  2. I can't take the credit at all...dbrosch found that incredibly cool option. (Thanks!)

My local country station isn't signed up either, but one of my favorite streaming stations is, so I'm going to test it out. Should be fun!
