Quick update, 1/9: Radio news and more...

You know, there's nothing that says "this is really happening" like a big, glossy, beautiful Radio and Records trade ad. So if you feel a little lump in your throat as you click that image and enjoy the full size version, don't feel alone, y'all. The scan comes from the kind people who put together the WKML bulletin, and DeanO, the Program Director, has a featured quote in the ad that's sure to put a smile on your face. (Thanks so much to Pegasus and dbrosch for sharing this milestone image...)

As for listening to the radio, first things first--the WKML 95.7 "Top 5 at 6" countdown is still taking your requests. Be sure to zap them an email at country@wkml.com, then listen in at 6 p.m. ET to see if Bucky can continue his impressive run at the top of the countdown tonight. Huge thanks to WKML for all the fun!)

Another WKML heads-up; a live interview with Bucky Covington will air tomorrow morning, Wednesday 1/10, "sometime after 8 a.m." Eastern, according to notes in comments. (If you have any more info about the interview, please feel free to share it in comments or by email--unfortunately my PC doesn't always allow me to pick up streaming radio. Thanks!)

If you were tuned into XM's Highway 16 during your morning commute today, you were treated to Bucky's "Different World" at about a quarter past 8 a.m. ET--a nice drivetime spot for a hot new single, and a perfect way to start off the day...

And there's a new stream to check out this evening; "Different World" won the "Test Track" challenge at WBEE in Rochester last night, and will face a new song head-to-head at about 7:30 p.m. ET. If you're local, call 585-222-WBEE to cast your vote; online listeners can check out the DJ on-air link at the station's site.

(Edited to add a WKML"Top 5 at 6" update--"Different World" was the second most requested song of the day; "Alyssa Lies" topped the countdown. Lurkers, feel free to lend a hand for tomorrow's show! You can send an email to country@wkml.com during the day, then listen in live at WKML.com to see if Bucky's back on top Wednesday night!)

It's all happening so fast. Wow! Jennifer Hanson wrote the hit song, "Leave the Pieces" for the Wreckers. I love that song too.

  2. I love "Leave the pieces" too! yay I finally know the writers! Love that promo! And how wonderful that they talked about the "phones blowing up" and how much his single being played had impacted their internet play. Now if the blogger would work for me for more than 5 minutes at a time I would be good lol

  4. It slipped to # 2 but Bucky's mom Debbie did the intro and thanked the station for playing her son.

  7. He was just talking about the radio interview in the am... nothing specific just said after 8. He did say there is a lot going on behind the scenes with Bucky right now and talked about Bucky's family and the #1 and 2 songs today both being from NC artists. Seems both their counties have football rivalry as well. lol

  8. Hee! Football rivalries might have a lot to do with it! :)

Carol, I agree--it really is happening fast (and beautifully), isn't it? Bucky's got some great songwriters in his corner..."Leave the Pieces" is fantastic.

Kathy--what happpened to our Blogger.com today! I was half expecting them to post "the dog ate our homework" on the system status page. :) Glad things seem to be back to nornmal...

Did anyone else feel a tiny bit of "whoa" when they saw that Radio and Records ad? My dad was in radio for a while when I was a kid and we had a subscription to Billboard; I loved seeing those ads and knowing there would be something new and cool on the radio soon. To see Bucky in one today just makes me smile...

  9. yes Blogger has been having a moment today! It wouldn't let me in for the longest time. Absolutely a whoa moment. My husband likes the idea of it dropping the day AI premieres. He thought that was a good marketing tool. Which it will be if they put the notice on their homepage as that day they will have a huge amount of hits.

  11. Delayed Monday Syndrome! :) Sorry you had tech problems today, too--it seems to be a trend, unfortunately.

There is always tomorrow--and Bucky Covington fans are very good at bouncing back...

  13. Kathy, I think your husband has an excellent point about the marketing. And Bucky and the show seem to have a good post-season relationship with each other, too, so who knows what might happen! :)
