A little news sweep to start the day:
GAC is taking a look back at last weekend's Sound and Speed event in Nashville for the next few days; a gracious fan who's seen the promo spots on the channel says that highlights* will be aired tonight at 8 pm, and you can enjoy more coverage of that weekend's events on Wednesday and Thursday, January 23 and 24th. Bucky was among the celebrities there for this special blend of country music and NASCAR lore; tune in, sit back and enjoy. (Big thanks to Hildi for the update.)
And in radio news, there's plenty of voting, calling and requesting on the menu today! It'd be fun to see Bucky reclaim the top spot in this evening's WKML "Top 5 at 6"--so feel free to zap them an email at country@wkml.com right now and request "A Different World". And a kind fan from Florida has asked for our help--she's never had the pleasure of hearing the song on her local country station, WAVE 92.7. The station has a "High 5 at 9" show during the week--give Heather, the evening DJ, a quick email at heather[at]wavw.com and let her know you'd like to hear Bucky on the Floridian airwaves, too.
The Mediabase charts are looking about the same this morning as they did last night, but if Yes.com is any indication, a lot of new cities are enjoying Bucky's single this week! We've seen Colorado Springs, Dallas and Albuquerque among the new spots giving Bucky's song a spin. (If you'd like to hear it right away, be sure and join the CMT listening party, where a full version of "A Different World" is featured on Bucky's artist profile page.)
And last but definitely not least, how soon can we expect that very eagerly-anticipated music video for "A Different World"? From what we can gather, the video and photo shoot are still going on even as we speak; the syndicated Country Music News (you can read it on K-104's MySpace blog) reported yesterday that Bucky had returned to L.A. for the filming, and Marnie at AmericanIdol.com shared that she'd be inteviewing Bucky on the set "on Tuesday of next week". We're not sure of the exact time frame, but from the sound of things, this won't be a rushed, quickie video. All indications point to a lush, carefully-done clip with all the beauty of the Golden Oak Ranch plus a terrific song and performer. Could Bucky be a future favorite on CMT's Top Twenty Countdown and GAC's Top 20 Country Countdown? It's looking more likely every day...
More soon!
*Looks like the red carpet footage aired last night (Monday)--we'll try to track it down for you. Apologies for the mix up and thanks--Winnie
Oh dear....it looks like there was a GAC Speed and Sound show that I missed...thought the first one was Tuesday. :( Did anyone capture it?

Thanks! I updated the post to reflect the corrections--hope that someone can give us a description of the red carpet portion.
ReplyDeleteVictory! One of my local stations will play Bucky in their Hop it or Drop it segment on the 25th. No live stream though. It is a Froggy station so everything is frog related(even dj names) *heh*
ReplyDeleteOoooh! They are testing Bucky's tune on my local Clear Channel country station, K102 in Minnesota:

You can vote on that page, I believe.
^ That last part should be "index.html" in case you can't see it. I'll post this on the *ofishul* Fox board as well.
ReplyDeleteEEEEE! They are playing it right now. :) You have half an hour to vote after it's done.
ReplyDeleteI feel like such a doof but this is awesome - I'm hearing Bucky on my local radio! I'll report on anything she says and hopefully I'll be able to catch the results too.
You can also call 651-989-K102. The song just finished and she'll announce the results around 2:00 PM CST. Sorry to triple post, gah.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Anon! I'm trying to post this out front, and if Blogger would stop running backwards we could send a few more votes your way. (Grrrrrr...blogger....)
ReplyDeleteWell, the "Create Post" function here is out to lunch, but I went over and gave it an A:
ReplyDeleteK102
Results are right after this Garth Brooks song that they are playing. Hopefully they'll play more comments (I couldn't get through on the phone but I did try)
ReplyDeleteOkay just a longshot here but maybe if a bunch of Bucky fans take a minute and go to the GAC site and e-mail them to sweetly ask them to please put Bucky's red carpet interview from Sound and Speed online they might just do it. They have a bunch of other video clipped interviews from other red carpets already on their site so it would not be out of the blue. So that is my suggestion of the day. :D Thanks!
ReplyDelete(I already e-mailed them but if they hear from a number of people maybe they would more apt to do it.) *fingers crossed*
DJ said: "74 percent gave it an A"... "so Bucky Covington did very well in out test tune."
ReplyDeleteWell done Bucky babes! haha
Bucky got an A on the test track challenge on K102 *grin* I think it was something like 78% (she was throwing out a lot of figures and I am notoriously bad at remembering details) It was either 74% or 78% voted to give him an A.
ReplyDeleteWhoops, thanks for that "anonymous" Great anonymous minds have to stick together (although yours is greater because you actually remembered the correct figures).
ReplyDeleteExcellent news! (Hey, it's a good song...it deserves that A.) I hope this means more CC stations--including ours up here in OH--will hop on board and add it.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for the heads-up!
I thought it was interesting that one woman called in and gave it a "B" but did say she wished he had come out with something "bouncier". I think they made the right decision by going with a slower song but I'm wondering if the faster songs are what will catch on even more?
ReplyDeleteIf they would have come out with a rockin country tune for the first single some other lady would have called in to say it was nice but wish they would have come up with a mid-tempo tune that showcased his voice more. LOL So well...6 of one and half dozen of the other. :)
ReplyDeleteTotal agreeance. I think the slower song with the traditional country feel was absolutely the right move for the first single. Both for Nashville acceptance and for country music fan acceptance.
ReplyDeleteBucky can come out with the "bounchier" song "I'm Good" next. I wish I could send it to that lady right now..
ReplyDeleteI love "I'm Good" and I do not know if he wrote it or not but lyrically it just sounds "so Bucky!" and that makes me love it even more. :D
ReplyDeleteIf he didn't write I'm Good then I would say the writers set down with him and said tell us some things you like because the bigger boat thing made me think of him. lol I agree no matter what they would have said the opposite for the first single. Although it has worried me that a bouncier song wasn't the first single. to grab attention. But you can also look at it this way.... if they release a good solid one first like A Different World to showcase his "countriness" and voice and it is does a solid showing... doesn't even have to make top 10 for that..... then you want to be able to have a single come out second that will keep the new listeners interested. Slow build is good.
