Lunchtime request hour!

Edited to add some fun news from Huntsville, Alabama; on Thursday, 1/18, Bucky will be interviewed on 102.1 WDRM "probably in the 6:00 a.m. hour, Central Time", according to DJ Dan McClain. This station does offer online streaming, so brew a pot of coffee and join us here Thursday morning to start your day with Bucky on the airwaves. (Thanks to the very kind space2006 for the tip.)

Laurianne mentioned this in comments, and it's such a good idea that I thought I'd post it out front--lunchtime requests shows are an excellent way to get brand new songs on the air in your town. Call your local country request line to ask for "A Different World", and you might be in for a tasty musical side dish this afternoon!

Unsure what your favorite country station's already played today? Use the handy Yes.com map to click on your city, then scroll through the list of stations to find your choice. If Yes.com tracks your station, a page should come up with all the recently played tunes listed. And if you're just curious about where Bucky's being heard right now, click here. (Don't worry if you get a "Sorry, but Bucky Covington has not been heard lately" notice...the minute a station begins to play the song, that'll change.)

More radio news coming soon...

They just played Bucky and after the DJ said, "It has been a big goofy different world here since we got this one in" and then he talked about requests for "Different World." :D

  3. I swear I have tried my station all morning and gotten a busy signal! Maybe the dj takes it off the hook lol

  4. Either that, or everyone in town is trying to call at the same time! :) Busy signals are sooooo annoying--the only thing worse is calling a radio station, thinking your on hold for a long time, and then...beeeeep...dial tone again. Sigh.

I hope you get through soon!

Ours here runs a commercial about requesting online over and over again. Wonder if they're trying to give the NE Ohioans a hint? :)

  5. Yes.com doesn't have any WV stations. I think maybe they are cover stations with live streams and neither of mine do.

  6. Sorry about that...I see there is a huge area in the north that they don't cover, either--wonder why not?

Oh well--still a fun toy, but I wish they covered your local area!

I requested Bucky, early even, on my station. He said he would play it but didn't. I am NOT happy with them at all.

  8. I still haven't gotten through to WNUS but Froggy 99 said he will play it. He started quizzing me on American Idol. lol he asked are you going to watch tonight. I said yes but not so excited this year. He asked why and I said because no one will top Bucky for me and they can never top season 5 in general...it was just too good overall. he asked if I liked Taylor Hicks and I said oh yeah. But no one is Bucky lol He must be doing some kind of American Idol crap today since the show premieres.

  9. This twerp had better play Bucky because he just was talking about Idol and played me and him talking ---about the show and it not being able to compare to last year --- no Bucky and he didn't play it yet. He played something else, but every break he rambles about AI. Grr They did just say Jason Aldean will be touring with Rascall Flatts. hmmmm looked him up and he is Broken Bow records which is an indie label. Who knew. I always wondered about touring because label mates are usually paired up but with Lyric still so small makes sense indies would tour with major labels.Wonder about Bucky? Would love for him to have that exposure but also know he is too new to open for Rascall Flatts. Trent Tomlinson and him would be a good touring combo. And then of course there is the county fair circuits which help new country artists.

  10. Sigh--it is very frustrating. From what I've been able to gather, a lot fo the stations aren't able to play a new song the first day--or even the first week. Just depends on the station owners' policies about the playlists. Grrrr...

Even if they can't play it yet, just calling or emailing to request does let them know there's interest, so when the "followers" finally join the "leaders", they have a history of calls/mail for the song to factor into the decision. I am frantically trying to get more info! Will share anything I find.

I agree about Trent Tomlinson. Actually my Bucky fandom introduced me to his music because I don't listen to country radio. I ended up following the link from the Lyric Street site. He is really good - I like him quite a bit. His current single is just a great song (it's a shame that it's losing audience ahead of inferior songs from other artists) and I love his rockier stuff too.

It also doesn't hurt that he's good looking. Not that I've noticed or anything - I *hear* things. ;) Long live The Imaginary Eyecandy 07' Tour.

I hate Rascal Flatts but the exposure would be wonderful for Bucky.

  12. I am so with you on that tour. Hadn't heard Trent before all this Lyric Street info came into view, but he is on my "to buy" list now.

  13. Yeah didn't listen to country either before Bucky lol Well on purpose anyway heh But Living in WV it is always around, the fairs, in the supermarket.. everywhere. My whole family listens to country. Myself and my cousin were the only rockers lol That boy will die listening to ACDC lol But rock was just never gonna be my kind of rock again. Now.. a lot of country artists are people my age who liked my kind of rock. So you can almost hear it sometimes. Now I have went full on country. I actually heard Trent Tomlinson during AI last year. I love his song Country is my Rock.... it is exactly what I mean about new country and actually makes me think of Bucky lol But I agree.. not too hard on the eyes lol Eyecandy tour lol I have always been a sucker for a guy in a bandana anyway!
