Tuesday's "countdown and challenge" post begins with WKML's "Top 5 at 6"; will Bucky Covington's "A Different World" bounce back from third place to be the Number One requested song tonight? Listen to the online stream at 6 p.m. ET, and stay tuned--we'll have the results for you here later this evening. (Results: Bucky moved up a notch to Number Two--and according to a commenter, DJ Larry pointed out that it's quite a feat for a newcomer to be trading the top spot back and forth with the likes of Brad Paisley. Kudos to all who requested today!)
"A Different World" is on a winning streak in KQFC's song showdown in Boise; tonight, KQFC will spin Bucky's new single against a brand new challenger. This station streams online--so listen in starting at 9 p.m. ET to find out how to cast your vote, and be sure to check the Fox boards for updates as well. More details and results as the night goes on. (Edited with results: Bucky's the winner again tonight--good going, Boise!)
If you have news about any new song battles or test track surveys, please leave them in comments--I'll try to add to the post through the night. Thanks, and have fun!
(Edited to add: Blogger.com's posting function went down for several hours tonight, so I could neither post nor edit--apologies for the delayed info and uncorrected typos. From the Yes.com looks of things, "A Different World" was the "Hank or Stank" song earlier tonight at 97.1 WLHK in Indianapolis. No online listening--we're hoping that second spin means it's a winner. "A Different World" also went for its fifth win in a row at KXKT in Omaha a few hours ago. If you're in either of these two listening areas and have any news about the results, please leave a note in comments. Thanks!)
Top 5 at 6!
ReplyDeleteJack Ingram "Lips of an Angel"
(Nothing against Jack but this song does nothing for me.)
Tim McGraw "Last Dollar"
ReplyDeleteI am diggin that new Tim song
ReplyDeleteGosh....Jack was #5 and Tim #4...forgot my format for a bit there....
ReplyDelete#3 John Michael Carrol "Alyssa Lies"
Thank you both so much!
ReplyDelete(I am having weird tech problems tonight and can barely get the blog to load, let alone get a stream--sigh. And count me in as liking Jack a lot but not diggin' that song so much.)
In a break from elefun(dang butterflies everywhere)oooo 2 or 1????
ReplyDeleteHi Hows Bucky doing tonight.Becky
ReplyDeleteI like the Tim song but the kids at the end needed to be shorter or something...but the start always makes me think it would be a fun sorta song for Tim to get audience participation with at a concert. :)
ReplyDeleteI hope "Good Directions" is next. (And not Paisley...so tired of his song.)
awwwwwwwwwwww
ReplyDelete#2 Bucky Covington "Different World"
ReplyDeleteOh! my Brad lol he does get a lot of Airplay lol But I love Good Directions. Oh well back to 1 tomorrow!
ReplyDeleteWell done! Just so he keeps making the countdown daily it is all good. :D
ReplyDeleteA countdown spin is a spin! :)
ReplyDeleteSo cool how he sings "boys and girls"...just the inflection and all.
ReplyDelete#1 Brad Paisley "She's Everything"
ReplyDeleteOh well.
Oh the DJ talked about how Bucky was number one on Friday and how even today for a new artist battling well against established Brad so well and switching off with him for number one is really good. :D
ReplyDeleteYay Bucky!!!
Haha...now they are playing "Good Directions"...got my wish just a wee bit too late. But still...what a cute song. :D
ReplyDeleteWhen I first heard good directions I though yeah cute.. but when I really listened and caught that Miss Bell with the Sweet Tea was his mama! Loved it!
ReplyDeleteI really like DJ Larry--he is very supportive of Bucky, and that is an excellent point! Thank you for sharing that.
ReplyDeleteAnd "Good Directions" just makes me smile--what a fun tune.
ReplyDeleteAny song that ends with "Thank God for good directions...and turnip greens!!!" is bound to make me smile. :D Such a cute line. haha
ReplyDeleteOh and speaking of that other fab song..."Different World"....the other day in class I was talking about all the ways we can get in touch with one another these days and how that is great in some ways but how it is problematic in other ways too....made me just stop and think of Bucky's song right there and then. :) I think Bucky made this point in one of his interviews that even if every little detail of the lyrics do not match the exact timestamp of your childhood that it gets you to relate similiar memories of just how different the world of each of our childhoods was compared to now.
ReplyDeletenice point. :) I really love WKML -- the DJ's are so warm with little of the sarcasm that so many DJ's use. And I hadn't caught that bit about the mother in the turnip greens song -- very cute.
ReplyDeleteBucky dropped a spot on on mediabase on both charts hes at 48. I hope that goes back up tomorrow
ReplyDeleteROFL.. carter recognized my voice.. guess i have been calling too much to Idaho ;)
ReplyDeleteThe KXKT Smackdown is over--Blogger is malfunctioning again and will not let me edit old posts or make new posts on the front page. As soon as it's fixed, I'll update--my aologies. No results yet--hope a nice Nebraskan fan will let us know. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteBucky won the showdown at KQFC for the 4th night! One more to go!
ReplyDeleteThanks for voting!
And LOL, Debbie! You are going to end up as a DJ yourself--you're already getting famous! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks, ValiGirl! As soon as Blogger lets me, I will post that happy news up front. We love Boise!
