Cruising the Amazon, countdowns and more...

(Banner below created by the very kind Lisa/letusjudge of Buck Wild, photo by lfesvr; click image to visit BestBuy.com and preorder Bucky Covington's debut CD. Thanks, Lisa!)

Of course, the biggest news today is that Bucky Covington's debut CD, Bucky, is now available for pre-order at Amazon.com and at BestBuy.com, as well. (The release date is April 17th, and yes--we're literally counting down the days, as you'll see at the foot of the page.) If you'd like a little sample of what you'll be hearing on that CD, be sure to check out Bucky's official MySpace, where clips from four tracks are posted for your enjoyment. The MySpace samples have been altered a little--as of yesterday, there's a short "outro" from Bucky welcoming you to the music and reminding you about that April 17th date. (So...when's Bucky's CD coming out, again?)

Bucky's promo radio tour for "A Different World" continues in February--be sure to check the schedule at his official site often for changes. And speaking of radio, the single has done another hop upward on the Mediabase Top 400 to #43, while holding steady at #44 on the weighted "with year" chart. New cities and stations include Montgomery, Grand Rapids and Nashville's WSIX. And our beloved "old" station, WKML, would love to hear from you--so be sure to request Bucky at country@wkml.com for tonight's "Top 5 at 6" countdown.

While we're on the subject of countdowns, here are a couple of big ones that "A Different World" could be gracing in a very short time. American Country Countdown's site is a fun portal for fans of modern country in general; Kix Brooks of Brooks and Dunn hosts this one, and the site features a link to the chart, a news section, and a newsletter you'll want to sign up for soon. There's no voting on this one, of course--it's all based on airplay--but when Bucky's single hits the Top 40, we can celebrate in style! (As regular listeners know, the ACC Top 40 "Mailbag" section is for requests and dedications of past hits only--our way of helping Bucky get played on this show is to request "A Different World" on our favorite local and streaming stations, and hang on tight!)

CMT's Country Countdown USA is an airplay-based Top 30 show hosted by Lon Helton of Country Aircheck fame, and it's an enjoyably freewheelin' program with lots of artist participation--in fact, there's a country star "co-host" almost every week. Plenty of audio from past shows is archived on the site, too. There's a station locator linked from the main page--check to see if the show airs near you, and stay tuned. Bucky could be coming to you via the syndicated countdown shows even sooner than you think..

More very soon--have a great Tuesday!

When I fist clicked on the Amazon link yesterday, the sales rank was something like #31,500. Today it is #492. That's a pretty big leap for a CD without a picture or tracklisting. I am not sure I like the title of just "Bucky". I think using his full name is more fitting of a serious artist. JMHO. Of course I'd still run out and buy it even it it was called "Booty Shakin' Bucky's Heehaw Hootenanny".

  6. ROFL!

(Carol, I think I need a new keyboard now--coffee doesn't look so good all over the monitor, either...)

I know what you mean about the title--Best Buy is listing it as "Bucky Covington", so there's the usual pre-release confusion, in progress.

Wonder if the label thought "Bucky" was a way to get around the Bucky Covington/Billy Currington issue? (Obviously, listeners and buyers won't have a problem telling the names, voices and faces apart, but bored Big Gray and Blue Discount Place record department clerks might.) Billy's debut CD was titled "Billy Currington".

Not that your alternate title doesn't have a certain charm...hee!

Dr Pepper doesn't look good on a keyboard either lol hootenanny lol And heehaw--flashbacks of my mamaw making me watch that show---hours of my like I will never get back lol But seriously, I agree on the just Bucky thing. I also heard someone call on Bucky Currington on Sirius as well so who knows lol But yes would prefer the whole name

They aren't seriously going to call it just "Bucky" are they? Maybe it's just a placeholder until they think of a song-related title.

  9. That's my guess too, Anon--with Best Buy saying one thing and Amazon saying another, it's safe to assume the final decision might not have been made. Guess we'll find out soon!
