Bucky in Kentucky conference call...

Tonight's GAC Country Christmas concert in Murray, Kentucky is being covered by a conference call.

Thanks, Hildi! Call the number below...

The phone number is 1-605-990- 0400 and the access code is 195518#; be sure you use the pound key. After you are in the conference (concert), be sure to mute yourself by hitting the number 6 on your telephone to mute.

I'll be updating this post with bits from the board--reload for the latest info...

The show opened with all performers on stools--(note--Steve Azar was the first to sing, with a nice reception--will try to find name of song) and Bucky is currently singing "Suspicious Minds" with Steve Azar, Blue County, Julie Roberts, and Deana Carter singing along...

Sounds like a little stage patter, then Deana Carter singing...someone called it a "very pretty song"..."Deana said she works on her hair for an hour and Bucky's still looks better." (Giggling here.) "Bucky has on jeans, black leather jacket, black t-shirt, two silver necklaces."

"Dixie says 'Suspicious Minds' blew everyone away, even the other artists--and this was not quite his normal version of it..."

Blue County up next...then Steve Azar singing "I Don't Have to Be Me 'Till Monday".

Julie Roberts, singing "Break Down Here".

Someone mentioned that the bus broke down twice in one day. (Um...GAC? I think that '68 VW van might need replacin'...) "Lots of laughing."

Bucky singing "Different World" now. Reactions: "Ohhh, its a ballad... I love it!" "Sounds great." "OMG if this is it it is beautiful!" "I am teary eyed and it sounds like the crowd was blown away by that song." "That was so beautiful. Can't wait till it comes out in January. Thank you so much Dixie, Happy and Hildi for doing this for us." (I so wish I could hear this tonight...sigh..)

Deana Carter doing her hit "Strawberry Wine." Dixie: "Deana said Bucky would sell lots of records and he would have to take all of them on tour. She said they already have to ride in his bus..."

Dixie says: "Bucky is singing all of the words to 'Strawberry Wine' and making Deana laugh. You know how he sang 'I'm Every Woman" with Mandisa. Too cute."

(Just a reminder, in case you're on the call and tracking the play-by-play here rather than on the Fox boards--be sure to hit 6 to mute your phone. Thanks!)

Next, an "awesome" song by Blue County (no title yet).

Interesting stage patter, unfortunately garbled. "I heard them talking about leather pants ... and they said "leather pants" like 5 times....hmmmmm" Now a word about charity partner World Vision.

Intermission now! Be right back...

(Sounds like Bucky might have been on the line for a second during intermission to say a quick "hi"! Leaf got to talk to Bucky a little during the break. Intermission ending shortly...)

Second half has begun, with "Oh Holy Night" and "Silent Night" with the whole group.

Now "The First Noel", with one of the ladies on lead vocals...next, "The Christmas Song" (a.k.a. "chestnuts roasting on an open fire".)

"Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas", then "I'll Be Home for Christmas".

Bucky singing lead on "Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree." (Cannot wait to hear this live!)

(Sounds like there might have been another lead vocal by Bucky after this one---will try to get a clarification and edit soon..)

"Let It Snow". (!)

Julie Roberts on now...

Dixie: "Steve Azar, 'It's Gonna Be a Catfish Christmas.' Cute..." Next, "Santa Claus Is Coming to Town" and "Jingle Bell Rock".

" 'Jingle Bell Rock' was a group song. Female telling the crowd that are going to sign stuff in the back."

"O Come All Ye Faithful" sung as a group; and "We Wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year".

And the show's over for the night. Sweet ensemble feeling, wonderful camraderie amongst a very talented group of singers, excellent selection of tunes, and Bucky's onstage for the whole show. What are you waiting for? Buy a ticket and go, already!

More soon...

P.S.: There's a sweet "thank you" thread posted here* by Honeygirl; feel free to go show some love for the kind ladies who made this evening's call possible. (I can't post there, so I'll post it here--thank you so much.)

*Well, there was a "thank you" thread there. The moderators have zapped that one, the conference call thread and the older main GAC tour thread at the Fox boards. We're still waiting for word on Bucky's official site, and we hope it will come complete with a shiny new official message board, too.

    Hi Winnie,

That was the best sounding cell cert ever and Bucky sounded great on all of his songs. "Different World" was just achingly lovely. He put a wonderful Bucky spin on "Rocking Around the Xmas Tree" and the bluesy Christmas song that followed was amazing (couldn't get anyone on the boards to get me the title). It was hard to hear all the stage patter but it sounded like Bucky was his usual funny and witty self. I'm sorry that you can't do these cell certs but at least you will have the pleasure of seeing the show live and getting to meet him (if you don't chicken out). For me, I'll be counting the days till the TV show.

  8. Carol, it sounds like it was an incredible show and a great cellcert, too--and I really envy everyone who'll be able to watch along on GAC later this month. I've heard nothing but good things about "Different World" all night long, so it must have been truly beautiful.

Not sure if the opportunity to say "hi" was a quirk of circumstance during those snowy first couple of concerts, but if I do get a chance to meet Bucky, I promise to...um, try not to chicken out. (Honestly, it's awful to be shy! I wish I weren't.)

I did hear them inviting people backstage for autographs tonight so there is a good chance they will do the same at your show. He won't bite! Are you just going to Canton?

  10. Yep, just the one show, unless Santa stops by early and is feeling very generous, indeed. And you're absolutely right--shyness aside, if I didn't take the opportunity to thank Bucky in person for all the music and fun we've been enjoying this year, I'd probably put a lump of coal in my own stocking! (And I'd deserve it, too.)

As for the part of your comment I had to edit out due to a note I once got from a staff member of a network named after a sly animal--you're very kind, and I might take you up on that--thanks!

    Thanks for the re-cap, Winnie.
    I missed this one completely!
Ive called in on a couple of cell-certs , but
the sound was too bad ....maybe the distance
to way up here doesnt help!

I hope you get to meet Bucky -Im sure he puts
even really shy people right at ease!
    take care, Chan

  12. Chan, it was my pleasure! You know, I have never actually been on the line for one of these, but the fans who post the details make it so much fun to read that even if we can't hear, we can feel like we're part of it. And Bucky must have been amazing! Hope his next tour is nationwide so that you'll have the chance to enjoy him on stage again.

(As for the shyness--well, I'm just going to have to get over it. :) )
