It's November...a bit late for crickets chirping, isn't it? It's safe to assume things will be like this for a while--a flurry of excitement, and perhaps a surprise show or two, followed by lulls while Bucky's busy recording that CD or enjoying some time back home. But while we're waiting for Bucky's next official appearance (and for Rocky's Friday, 11/17 show at the Carolina Grill with Swamp Cat), there's a bit of time to stop and think about what might lie ahead for Bucky and for us, now that we've gotten a sweet little taste of what he's up to, musically.
There's encouraging news over at CMT today--the current CMT.com chart-stats article is entitled "American Idol Stars Top Charts, Airplay"; Kellie Picker (Number One on the country album charts) and Carrie Underwood (Number One on country radio this week) are celebrated in the story. Country radio is a profoundly more Idol-friendly atmosphere than current pop or rock radio; as Bucky said in his WGHP interview (quoted at Viewfinder Blues), "It really all comes down to a good song, you get a good song out there and that's what it takes..."
Well, we now know there's a good Bucky Covington song--several, actually--on the horizon, and come January or thereabouts, the radio and chart buzz will be ours to keep track of and enjoy.
Kathy at Team Covington has said it many times, and I agree--it's never too early to think like a street team. From what we've been hearing of (and about) the songs Mark and Bucky are working on, Bucky's music is bound to attract those very important casual fans, too, so we won't be alone in our requesting and buying and cranking it up. But chances are good that if you're hanging out here or at Team Covington, at Bucky Country, at the official boards, at the numerous Yahoo groups in our sidebar, or any place that Bucky's fans gather, you'll be on the front lines when his single comes out, cheering him on.
By the time Bucky's debut single is ready to go, there'll no doubt be an official street team fully in place. Two words--join it! I'll be right there with you. Those of us who heard something special in Bucky's voice right from the start are going to have a lot of fun helping to give the rest of the world the chance to hear it, too. Between the ever-increasing radio friendliness to country Idols (Carrie, Kellie and the now-well-established Josh Gracin), Bucky's growing, committed fanbase, and the fine music we're hearing about this winter, the future's looking pretty bright for Bucky Covington. Stay tuned!
Sign me up for the "Street Team"! You know I'll be right there with ya every step of the way, and supporting Bucky anyway I can!

Hey, Tracy!
ReplyDeleteMe too...you know, it felt so good to finally hear some what what Bucky and Mark have been working on in the studio. Nothing like getting a little taste of just what it is we'll be promoting! I think the official street team, whatever shape it finally takes, will be fun--can't wait to actually hear Bucky on the radio. :)
