A few odds and ends...

One of my favorite photos, ever; Bucky Covington in NYC, 4/17/06, by the talented Beesims--thank you!A classic image from April; Bucky in NYC, photo by the talented Beesims---thank you!

Just a quick update on Bucky's "current events" while I get ready for a roadtrip to Wilkes-Barre:

MJ was at last night's Portland, Maine show--she reports that Bucky and Kellie wore big parrot head accessories for "We Are the Champions", and Elliott sported a sombrero and big parrot feet! Yes, the end-of-tour wackiness has begun...

There's plenty of buzz about the LMBO after-Idol show on Sunday; the Times-Leader and the Citizens Voice both carried great stories about Taylor Hicks' excellent bandmates this morning. Brian Less was interviewed by phone, and his thoughts on the future of LMBO, the loyalty of Taylor's fans, the musical direction they're sticking with (I love that, especially--they really sound fantastic just as they are) and his conversation with Simon Lythgoe about Season 6's Idol contestants is not to be missed. Be sure to check it out.

And as for Sunday's after-Idol--Brian mentioned that the Idol ladies have been encouraged to join: "The band has also invited the female Idol contestants to participate. Less hopes that the girls will come on stage for a big Idol group number at Woodlands after party." Sounds like fun! (If you've been to the cellcert thread for yesterday's LMBO gig, Brian was also quoted as saying the Rat Pack would try to be there, too...)

Finally, an eloquent Bucky fan on the official boards gracefully sums up what a lot of us have been feeling about the end of this tour and the season. Bucky Covington's future is bright and beautiful, and we can't wait to get that CD and hit the road to see him performing solo...but the incredibly sweet chemistry of this group of Idols will be hard to say goodbye to. Will they ever work together again? Will members of the Idol "Rat Pack" occasionally collaborate, surprising and delighting some lucky listeners years from now? Only time will tell...

More later today!
