What's in the water?

(Insomnia post--I'll be back with more later today, but since I'm up, and a couple of reviews are in...)

So who...um, altered the water at the Miami Herald last night? Leslie Gray Streeter of the Palm Beach Post used to "love, love, love" Bucky*, but barely mentioned him in her concert review, and the Herald reviewer...well, the less said about that one, the better. (No link for them, but you can hit the Google News site from the sidebar if you're curious--prepare to wince a bit.) Oddly enough, the Post reviewer adored Taylor's set, while the Herald reporter...oh, heck--never mind. Suffice it to say that you'll wonder if these two writers attended the same show.

It's the fans, as always, who have the final word, and here are a couple of early recaps from the Fox boards; a very satisfied concertgoer raves about the show in this thread; a longer post from another fan includes a bit of cute stage patter from Ace Young--he and Bucky apparently hit the beach yesterday, and Ace thinks they'd both like to check out some Florida property sometime...

If it's eye candy you're after, you have plenty to choose from today! A generous Kellie Pickler fan took lots of great shots at the Charlotte show; his large Photobucket album features four pages of photos from Bucky's stage turn, as well as a page of shots from Bucky and Kellie's duet (get well soon, Kellie!), and some beautiful Bucky/Ace/Elliott/Chris "Patience" shots, among many other delights. (He didn't have front row center floor seats; however, these photos are huge, so the details are all there. Hard to pick a favorite, but this one's pretty cool...) Kudos and a million thanks to the photographer for sharing these--they're terrific.

And via MJ's, a short-but-sweet album of photos from that fast-becoming-legendary LMBO Coyote Joe's set--the guys look pretty darn happy, don't you think?

(Edited to add--a commenter at MJ's reports that Bucky "was very hoarse" the night before last, as mentioned by a fan who'd spoken to him. I'll say it again--whoever puts together these tours might want to consider the performers' health [physical and otherwise] and not just the bottom line. Two days off between show stretches might make a world of difference. Here's hoping Bucky and all the Idols stay strong...)

More later--see you then!

*Granted, that was the night of "Fat Bottomed Girls", which just about everyone loveloveloved, in retrospect. Wish we could've gotten that song on this tour!

Man some of the reviews are just so mean spirited. You can never get use to,makes me sad.But those soul patrolers won't like them either. And they are not that use to them. BEcky

  2. Hi, Becky! And yes, the reviews can be brutal--I think a lot fo the newspaper writers almost resent having to cover Idol.

But hey, what counts more--an occasional bad newspaper review or thousands of screaming supportive fans every night? :)
