A newspaper review from last night's sold-out and stellar show in Greensboro starts things off today. From the Winston-Salem Journal:
Taylor Hicks may have been crowned the winner of this year's American Idol, but it was Chris Daughtry, Kellie Pickler and Bucky Covington who got the royal welcome last night when the "American Idols Live" tour stopped at the Greensboro Coliseum.
It's no surprise - Daughtry, Pickler and Covington are all from North Carolina, and this was the tour's first stop in the state.
................................................Pickler, of Albemarle, and Covington, of Rockingham, were both in good voice, singing the sweet-and-sexy duet "You're the One That I Want" from Grease.
On her own, Pickler simmered through a rendition of "I'm the Only One" in a red corset. And Covington sang an energetic version of "Superstition," although he was drowned out at times by the backup band, a problem that plagued several of the performers.
If you're looking for fan reviews, you've got a lot to choose from today. MJ's is chock full of recaps long and short, of course, and a thoughtful poster at the Fox boards has begun consolidating recaps into one "Greensboro Reviews" thread (great idea!)
Jonesing for photos? Jones no more--via MJ's, a lovely Photobucket gallery of shots from last night's show (including a cute snap of Rocky in the audience), and some Pittsburgh photos you might have missed. There's also a new You Tube fan video making the rounds--several Idols, including Bucky, signing autographs, waving, hugging and just generally being nice before a recent show. (I can see it but not hear it on this old PC; from the title, I suspect there was some crying involved. If you can see it, please let me know what's being said--I'm curious...)Lots more to catch up on, so I'll be back later today with updates as soon as possible. Have a magnificent Monday!
Hi Buckymania!
ReplyDeleteI can hear the video youasked about - Its the
video that goes with yesterday's link the
the 'longform re-cap' you linked to.
Its pretty much exactly like she narrates it in the
recap. You CAN hear her crying the whole
time, poor thing! Bucky really doesnt
say anything really, just Ok, Hi, Sure.
I couldnt understand most of what Ace said
-muffled, and Taylor and Chris say exactly
what she wrote in the recap.
Chris seems so much warmer in this than on hte
show. Bucky is still my fave, though!!
Keep up the great work! Thanks for the great job youre doing!
Chan
Hi Chan!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for the audio recap--I was really curious. It's odd sometimes seeing a You Tube clip and trying to imagine what the heck's being said!
And thanks also for your kind words--it's a lot of fun to blog about Bucky. It'll be exciting to see where his musical travels take him. Can't wait for that first CD!
Hi ,
ReplyDeleteI cant wait for the cd either!!
And you are welcome!
