Another serene Monday is upon us. (Perhaps everyone's resting up from this weekend's events?) There'll be a tour and ticket update post later this evening; meanwhile, here are some interesting links to peruse:
Saturday's Bucky Bash was a huge success, of course; if you'd like to catch up on all the fun, there's still plenty of recapping and reminiscing going on at the official boards. (Can't help but think that this level of devoted support bodes very, very well for Bucky's future career; Idol or not, he's got a seriously eager audience for his debut CD and his live performances.) Be sure to read this sweet note of appreciation from "Mama Tee", too; it gives a real taste of what it must have been like to be there...
Even the general Idol audience is missing Bucky a bit--check out this Chicago Tribune column by an ex-naysayer who admits in passing that she "didn't know what she had 'til it was gone."
Bucky will be back for the season finale, though--three weeks and counting. This'll most likely be a two-hour extravaganza with "red-carpet" silliness, interviews, group and solo performances, and 600,000 commercials (at Super Bowl prices for the would-be sponsors.) Having said all that--it'll be so good to have Bucky back on our television sets, if only for a little while. (Will Fox do an "Idol Tour Special" again this summer? Hope so...)
And if you'll be visiting the news stand during your lunch hour (and if you won't be too embarrassed to be seen thumbing through Teen People!) there's an Idol spread in their "Star Tracks" section featuring a nice photo of Bucky and Ace Young; a kind Ace fan at Idolforums shares it here.
More later!
I'm sure you already on this article from the News Observer. It's really the first article about Bucky that isn't a mindless puff piece and probably won't be appreciated by all the rabid fans on the AI boards, but I think it does a good job of showing the big disconnect between his pre and post Idol life and how hard it must be to adjust to his new found fame.
ReplyDeleteStill loving your blog. It's the best.

Hi, Carol...
ReplyDeleteI thought that article was really fascinating--it's good to have a non fluffy-bunny perspective on Bucky, because he doesn't seem to be on a track to a fluffy-bunny musical career, Idol experience notwithstanding. Part of what made me want to see how his journey unwound was the feeling that there was a lot of grit and blues behind the sweetness, if that makes sense...makes for better music in the long run, I believe.
So many schools hit this blog everyday that I tend to err on the side of "Tiger Beat"-ism as far as what I link to (and say) on the front page--which is probably fairly silly of me. I honestly didn't think this blog was going to be such a hit with the K-12 set! Live and learn. (Perhaps a little fine-tuning's in order, lest things get too fluffy-bunny around here, but I'll always have a big ol' Bucky bias. I still have that dream of being on the road with the wind in my hair and an excellent Bucky Covington album in my CD player...)
Thanks for your kind words...I'm really glad you're enjoying the blog after all this time--it's been such a pleasure to write about my favorite new singer.
